Rumors and speculation have only gotten more rampant when Nintendo confirmed that the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be revealed sometime in 2025.

Some of these rumors claim that Nintendo will be revisiting Breath of the Wild with an enhanced version of the 2017 title for the new console. Both of these leaks have come from a pair of reliable insiders, who recently gave fans more information about the next Zelda game.

In a new Twitter thread by Midori, a notable leaker who has an incredibly accurate track record regarding Sega, she revealed that Nintendo has a project that is codenamed "Edward," and it might be related to rumors about a new Zelda game. She later explained the relevance of the codename in relation to the Zelda series, where Nintendo previously used the codename "Richard" for Grezzo's Link's Awakening remake on Nintendo Switch. Based on this codename, fans began speculating that Nintendo was working on another remake of an older Zelda title, as Grezzo was hiring new staff back in 2021 for a new project.

Next Zelda Game Unlikely to be Oracle Remakes

Following Midori's post on Twitter, fans began speculating about what game Nintendo would likely be remaking, with the most prevalent being the Legend of Zelda Oracle games, as there were numerous rumors of the duology getting a remake. However, PapaGenos, another notable leaker, says fans "might be happy" about the next Zelda game, while also stating for fans not to "hold their breath." As such, this rumored title may be something that fans had wanted for a long time, but if PapaGenos is to be believed, is unlikely to be remakes of the Oracle duology.

Based on PapaGenos' comment, fans believed that he was referring to a possible Twilight Princess remaster for Switch 2, as it is one of the few Wii U games that haven't made the jump to Switch yet, and there have been several rumors about a port. Regardless, despite the accurate track records of both PapaGenos and Midori in the past, fans should wait for more official information from Nintendo and should take these leaks with a grain of salt.
