One artist has reimagined The Legend of Zelda's Link in Deltarune's retro pixel-art style. The artist took to social media to share their creation with the Deltarune and Zelda communities, adding their name to the long list of creative fan art made by gamers.
The Legend of Zelda franchise is almost as old as the video game industry itself. Its first appearance was in 1986 on the NES, where the world first met Link, a silent character filled with courage who would go on to conquer not only players’ hearts, but the very industry as well. While the first entry in the franchise is not particularly the best, it did kick off a series of games that would absolutely shape the medium into what’s known today—with titles like A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Breath of the Wild, the Zelda franchise has cemented itself as one of the most iconic ones. Although Link has undergone major visual changes over the years, with his appearance shifting across different consoles and games, one artist has now reimagined him in a unique style.
Artist Imagines Link in Deltarune’s Light and Dark World Styles
One artist known as Vi_22 has shared on Reddit a reimagining of The Legend of Zelda’s Link in the style of Toby Fox’s hit game, Deltarune. The result is quite impressive, as the artist managed to recreate Link in the unique, quirky pixel-art style of the indie game. Vi_22 created two versions of Link—one belonging to the game's Light World, featuring the colors and appearance he's commonly associated with, and another representing his Dark World counterpart.
As previously mentioned, Link’s appearance has changed a lot since the first Legend of Zelda game, so players have already seen him in pixel art style; however, the Dark World, evil-looking version that Vi_22 reimagined looks quite ominous and unique. Link wears white clothes with pink details on his wrists, white eyes and hair, and a penetrating, unsettling gaze that make him look like he stepped straight out of Deltarune.
Deltarune players have been having a great year so far, as Toby Fox released Chapters 3 and 4 on June 5, alongside the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Players had been waiting for it since the 2021 release of Chapter 2, though the wait for Chapter 5 won’t be as long—Toby Fox recently revealed the new chapter will likely launch in 2026. As of now, Deltarune has possibly released its final update on August 4, introducing a bunch of fixes for every chapter across all platforms.
