Tears of the Kingdom features a wide variety of ways for players to customize their gameplay. There are plenty of different Armor sets, weapons, and abilities for players to use and experiment with. Some of these effects are variable and only work under specific circumstances, such as weather conditions. They can also make boss fights easier, or make traversal quicker. 14 Flame Guard

Tears of the Kingdom Fireproof Elixir

Gaining the Flame Guard effect in Tears of the Kingdom means that Link will no longer catch fire when he's in flaming areas. It also increases his resistance to fire attacks.

The Flame Guard status effect can be gained by wearing the Flamebreaker Armor or cooking a Fireproof Elixir. This effect is particularly useful to have when exploring Death Mountain in the Eldin region. Many of the caves are too hot to explore without the Fireproof effect and will set Link's body on fire.

13 Glow

The Miner's Armor Set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Glow effect in Tears of the Kingdom is most useful for players trying to explore The Depths. This effect will make Link's body emit light for a select period.

There are a few ways of acquiring Glow. One is the Miner's Armor - this armor will glow and light up Link's surroundings, making it much easier to navigate darker areas. Players can also gain the Glow effect by cooking certain materials, such as Brightcaps or Glowing Cave Fish. When consumed, they will temporarily grant Link a glowing effect. If players find that they're short on Brightbloom Seeds, they can acquire the Glow bonus effect instead to help light their way.

12 Hot Weather Attack Up

The Ember Armor Set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Hot Weather Attack Up bonus effect is one of the more niche statuses in Tears of the Kingdom. This bonus will increase Link's Attack Power whenever he is in an area with hot weather. Players can acquire the Hot Weather Attack Up effect by equipping the Ember Set. It can also be gained by cooking and consuming Fire Fruit.

This status effect is most useful in the Gerudo region. It's helpful to have when fighting certain bosses or tougher enemies.

11 Stealth Up

The Stealth Armor Set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Stealth Up bonus effect will increase Link's stealth. This means that it will be much easier for him to sneak around and remain undetected by enemies. It can be particularly helpful for players trying to catch some of the rarer creatures in Tears of the Kingdom, or who simply want to avoid conflict with dangerous enemies.

The Stealth Up status effect can be gained in a variety of ways. One way is to create a Sneaky Elixir or cook certain recipes using stealthy ingredients. Some of the best ingredients the player can use for stealth include Silent Princesses and Stealthfin Trouts. There are also plenty of Armor pieces that will grant Link extra stealth. Some of these include the Yiga Set, the Stealth Set, and Sheik's Mask.

10 Slip Resistance

Slip Resistance is a new bonus effect in Tears of the Kingdom. This rather helpful effect will increase Link's ability to climb surfaces that are wet. Tears of the Kingdom players have likely tried climbing a cliff only for it to start raining and ruin their plans. Luckily, this status effect makes it much easier to climb in the rain.

To acquire Slip Resistance in Tears of the Kingdom, the player will need to acquire either a Sticky Elixir or the Froggy Set. The Sticky Elixir can be made using Sticky Frogs and Sticky Lizards, whereas the Froggy Set can be earned by completing the "Lucky Clover Gazette" side quests.

9 Stormy Weather Attack Up

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Stormy Weather Attack Up status effect will increase Link's Attack Power whenever he is in stormy weather. This bonus effect is particularly useful in the Faron region, or in the Thunderhead Isles, where the weather is most often stormy.

Players can acquire the Stormy Weather Attack Up bonus by consuming Shock Fruit or equipping the Charged Set. Shock Fruit is most commonly found in the Gerudo Desert and East Necluda.

8 Swim Speed

The Cold Weather Attack Up bonus effect can be gained by consuming Ice Fruit or equipping Armor from the Frostbite Set. Ice Fruit can be found in the Hebra Mountains and Gerudo Highlands - players should stock up before heading into a tough fight.

6 Cold Resistance
