The fast travel update for LEGO Fortnite brings additional toys, quality-of-life updates, and the ability to fast travel between locations. While building cars and other vehicles is often the go-to method of transportation in LEGO Fortnite, players can now get from one place to another in a flash via a Bus Station.

Bus Stations in LEGO Fortnite are an effective means for players to quickly travel to different areas of the map in just a few moments, allowing players to either quickly rift between their upgraded Villages or simply get to their favorite mining spot with ease. Although Bus Stations can be found as pre-built structures on the map, players can also build their own with the right materials.

Updated on September 24, 2024, by Nathan Round: The Lost Isles update introduced an additional method for acquiring Rift Shards. This guide has been updated to include information on how to obtain Rift Shards on the Lost Isles, as well as a video tutorial showcasing how to build and use a Bus Station in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Build a Bus Station in LEGO Fortnite

The Bus Station is an additional Utility Station that players can use to fast travel to other built Bus Stations around the map upon interacting with it. The Bus Station can be built via the build menu with the following:

  • 4 Iron Bars
  • 2 Malachite Slabs
  • 6 Frostpines
  • 3 Rift Shards

While many other Utility Stations can be built right from the get-go, the recipe for building a Bus Station is locked upon loading into a LEGO Fortnite world, and can only be unlocked once players get their hands on Rift Shards.

How to Get Rift Shards in LEGO Fortnite

Break Bus Stations in LEGO Fortnite

Rift Shards are a resource used solely for building Bus Stations in LEGO Fortnite. Unlike many other resources readily available throughout the map, they are pretty hard to come by. The first way to acquire Rift Shards in LEGO Fortnite is to destroy an existing Bus Station.

Bus Stations can be found in random locations around the map but will give off a distinctive blue light that can be seen from a distance. Once players have located a Bus Station, they can destroy it with a Pickaxe of Epic rarity - which will be made available once players get their hands on Obsidian. Once players have unlocked the recipe, they can craft an Epic Pickaxe via the Crafting Bench with the following materials:

  • 8 Obsidian Slabs
  • 5 Frostpine Rods

Defeat Golems in LEGO Fortnite

The second way to acquire Rift Shards is by defeating Golems on the Lost Isles. These Golems can be found roaming throughout the Lost Isles, either wandering in the wild or guarding Chests in various biomes.

Golems are tough enemies, so players should equip themselves with an Epic rarity weapon and an Epic Shield for the best chance of success. Alternatively, stocking up on Dynamite can be an effective strategy for dealing damage from a distance. Once defeated, a Golem will drop a single Rift Shard, which can be used to build a Bus Station.
