The devs have taken things up a notch with the v28.30 Patch, aptly titled the “Gone Fishin’” update. This patch introduces Fishing to LEGO Fortnite – a delightful yet relaxing activity that is a staple in many survival-crafting games.
In addition to being a leisurely pastime, Fishing opens the doors to exciting new adventures, allowing players to be truly self-sufficient as they’re out surviving in the wild biomes of LEGO Fortnite. For anyone curious about the ins and outs of fishing in the game, this guide covers all the details they need to know.

How to Get a Fishing Rod
Although LEGO Fortnite is separate from the traditional Fortnite: Battle Royale, the mechanics of fishing follow the same rules. All players need to do is cast their Fishing Rods into any body of water, and wait for it to hook a fish. There are four different tiers of Fishing Rods, and each one has a unique crafting recipe that players will first need to unlock.
While the lower-rarity ones are easier to craft, the higher-rarity ones improve the player’s chances of successfully catching a fish. The table below contains the unlock requirements and crafting materials for all types of fishing rods.

How to Fish
Once players have a Fishing Rod, they’ll quickly realize that fishing with just a rod gets difficult when trying to reel in rarer fish species. In this scenario, the next thing they need to do is get some juicy bait.
Using Bait Buckets is a surefire way of increasing the chances of attracting and catching higher-rarity fish in LEGO Fortnite. Throwing a Bait Bucket into a body of water instantly creates the perfect Fishing Spot.

The Launch Pad allows players to travel fast and fly high in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey. Here’s how to build it.
As is the case with Fishing Rods, there are four different tiers of Bait Buckets, and the higher quality bait players use, the better chances they’ll have of reeling in rarer fish. The four tiers of Bait Buckets, along with the necessary requirements, are covered in the table below.

All Fish Locations
Currently, there are fifteen fish species available to catch in LEGO Fortnite. Most of these fish can be caught in multiple biomes, with varying weather conditions and time of day. All of these fishes can be used in many seafood recipes, such as Fish Filets, Smoked Fry Fish, and Black and Blue Shieldfish Sushi. However, these meals require different ingredients and a specific type of equipment.
Apart from the four tiers of fish mentioned in the table below, each species also has a Legendary Fish. If they do manage to get their hands on a Legendary Fish, players should hold onto it, as devs have promised to add a way to display Legendary catches in a future update.
