LEGO Fortnite's Lost Isles update introduced an additional island to the game, which players can explore by traveling to it via a Bus Station. This island offers a fresh world to discover, featuring the legendary Klombos, the Peely Tribe, and troublemaking Pirates.
LEGO Fortnite: How to Find Klombo
Klombos have returned from the dead and taken a new LEGO form in Fortnite, and now they can be found, tamed, and made mad!
In addition to weapons like the Throwing Spear, unique biomes, and other exciting additions, the Lost Isles update also revamped the weapon upgrade system in LEGO Fortnite. As of the v31.20 update, players can acquire Runes and use them to upgrade various weapons and tools via the Rune Forge.
How to Upgrade Weapons in LEGO Fortnite
The first step to upgrading weapons in LEGO Fortnite is to build a Rune Forge. The Rune Forge replaced the Essence Table in patch v31.20 and can be constructed via the Build Menu using the following materials:
- 20 Knotroot
- 6 Glass
Once players have access to the Rune Forge, they can interact with it to open its interface. From there, players can select any available weapon or tool in their inventory and choose the "Roll For Runes" option. This will display a set of random Runes that can be applied to weapons, each costing Essence to apply. Simply select any Rune to apply it to the chosen weapon. If players want to roll for another set of Runes, they can reroll for 20 Essence.
Players must be careful applying Runes, as removing them from a weapon is impossible once they've been forged to it.
While all Runes require Essence to apply at the Run Forge, the total cost differs depending on the rarity of the Rune. Here is a quick breakdown of the total cost for each Rune:
- Common Runes - 75 Essence
- Uncommon Runes - 110 Essence
- Rare Runes - 150 Essence
Players can have up to three Runes placed on their weapon at any given time. However, they can only access a select few Runes upon crafting the Rune Forge. To use more Runes, players will need to craft additional ones.
How to Farm Essence in LEGO Fortnite
Essence is the currency used to apply Runes to weapons and tools via the Rune Forge. To acquire Essence in LEGO Fortnite, players can destroy any structure in the world, loot chests, and eliminate enemies, making farming the currency relatively easy.
Players can only hold 1,000 Essence at a time and will need to spend it if they want to acquire more.

LEGO Fortnite has a game mode for everyone, allowing players to express their creativity, peaceful nature, or their desire for a challenge.
How to Craft Runes in LEGO Fortnite
Players will need to find Klombo Rune Tomes to gain access to more Runes. Klombo Rune Tomes come in Uncommon rarities and can only be obtained by looting Chests. While pretty much any Chest can provide players with a Klombo Rune Tome, they are guaranteed drops from Chests found in the Floating Island biome. Klombo Rune Tomes are also guaranteed drops from the Chests in Beast Dens, and Chests that are guarded by Golems.
Once players have collected a Klombo Rune Tome in LEGO Fortnite, they can equip it to their hand and press the Fire button (Left Click/RT/R2). Doing so will grant them access to a random Rune recipe. The unlocked Rune will then be added to the available set of Runes that can be applied to weapons via the Rune Forge.
Klombo Rune Tomes can only be used once, and once they have been read by the player, they will disappear from their inventory.
There are currently 19 Runes in LEGO Fortnite. Klombo Rune Tomes can give players a Rune of any rarity, and once that Rune has been unlocked, it will be added to the Codex for players to view. Here are all the Runes players can get in LEGO Fortnite:
