LEGO has officially unveiled a new Lord of the Rings set, this time capturing the likeness of the movie trilogy's Sauron. This new Lord of the Rings Sauron's Helmet LEGO set will release on March 1, with pre-orders already live via the LEGO website.
LEGO has had a fairly lengthy history with the Lord of the Rings license. The first LEGO Lord of the Rings sets hit store shelves in May 2012, releasing just a few months before the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game. This initial wave included iconic sets like The Battle of Helm's Deep and The Mines of Moria, and they were followed a year later by another handful of sets inspired by Peter Jackson's live-action adaptations. After a decade-long hiatus, the LEGO Lord of the Rings theme returned in 2023 with a new line of BrickHeadz figures and the coveted Rivendell set, which is currently the 9th biggest LEGO set ever made. LEGO has continued to build on this theme gradually over the last few years, releasing Icons sets like Barad-Dur and The Shire, along with a Balrog Book Nook set.
LEGO's Flagship Theme Is Getting Some Pricey Sets in Summer 2026
Some new information from a reliable leaker suggests one of LEGO's flagship themes is getting several pricey sets in summer 2026.
LEGO Reveals Lord of the Rings Sauron's Helmet Set
- Releases March 1, 2026
- $69.99
- 538 Pieces
- Includes Sauron minifigure
Following some leaks earlier this month, LEGO has officially announced its Lord of the Rings Sauron's Helmet set. Inspired specifically by the Peter Jackson-directed movie trilogy, this set captures the likeness of the eponymous dark lord himself using 538 LEGO pieces. The helmet measures just over 13 inches high and both 5 inches wide and deep, making it a perfect display piece for those with limited space. The set is retailing for $69.99 and is set to ship on March 1 and pre-orders are open now on LEGO's website.
Though $70 seems a little steep for a LEGO set containing just 538 pieces, it should be noted that a Sauron minifigure is also included in this Icons set. This is particularly noteworthy as, on top of it being an incredibly well-detailed minifig, this modern version of LEGO Sauron was previously only available in the LEGO Lord of the Rings Barad-Dur set, which retails for a much higher $459.99. While the Sauron's Helmet set still isn't cheap, it's a much more affordable way to get such a sought-after Lord of the Rings minifigure, and it even comes with a One Ring accessory to boot.
This Sauron's Helmet set could only be scratching the surface of what's coming for LEGO Lord of the Rings in 2026. Back in December, Brick Tap leaked a LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set. According to the leak, this Minas Tirith set will be absolutely gigantic, consisting of 8,278 pieces and at least 10 minifigures including Denethor II, Faramir, King Aragorn, and both Gandalf and his trusty steed Shadowfax. Brick Tap also claimed that the set would retail for $600–650. These specs would make the rumored LEGO Minas Tirith set both the biggest and most expensive LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever made, with it eclipsing Rivendell's 6,167 piece count and $499.99 price tag.
Though nothing official has been announced regarding this Minas Tirith set, it will reportedly feature a microscale version of Gondor's capital city, complete with tiny versions of its winding roads, houses, and the palace and white tree that sit atop the mountain that the city is built into. Much like the Barad-Dur set, the rear of this LEGO Minas Tirith model will reportedly feature several dioramas that represent key scenes from the movies that take place in the city.
