LEGO has officially revealed its brand-new "modular" building set for 2026, giving fans the chance to mix and match their own version of a fancy shopping district. The iconic line of toys has experimented with a wide variety of different ideas for its building bricks throughout the more than 75 years since its debut. LEGO toys have expanded far beyond the initial concept of plastic bricks, introducing everything from specific themes like pirates, castles, and the beloved LEGO City brand to collaborations with pop culture giants like Nintendo and Minecraft. However, LEGO's Modular series has been particularly notable among LEGO's many products.

LEGO's Modular Buildings line of kits have gained a reputation as some of the most stunning and complex kits the brand has seen yet. The Modular line was first introduced in 2007 with the "Cafe Corner" set, featuring more than 2,000 pieces and allowing builders to mix and match with different Modular sets to change their designs. LEGO has even introduced Modular variants of some of its collaboration sets for players to include in their builds, with specific Batman and Marvel sets including the signature Modular pins. Now, LEGO's Modular series is about to get another new product to add to the lineup of available kits.

LEGO Reveals Shopping Street 2026 Modular Set

LEGO recently officially revealed its newest Modular Buildings set for 2026, with the Shopping Street set planned for next year. The Shopping Street set will come with 3,456 pieces and includes locations like music and furniture stores. The set's titular modular design allows users to mix and match elements to create their own vision for their LEGO shopping complex, with both buildings in the set featuring an apartment at the top. The newest LEGO Modular Buildings set will also come with a multitude of mini-figures, with promotional material showing off many different characters that live on Shopping Street. LEGO's new set will be a pricey one, with Shopping Street releasing on January 4 for $249.99 USD.

LEGO's newest set looks to slot in nicely alongside 2025's modular set, with LEGO officially releasing the Tudor Corner set in January 2025. Tudor Corner features 3,266 pieces for fans to experiment with and includes builds for a tavern, a clockmaker's workshop, and a small apartment within the 13-inch-high set. The Tudor Corner set also features notably different theming for its architecture than past sets, with the building based off architecture from 16th-century England instead of the modern builds used within LEGO's other Modular sets.

Is LEGO Modular 2025 Better Than 2026?

While the Shopping Street modular set will certainly turn heads, Tudor Corner provides some tough competition for Shopping Street to live up to. Tudor Corner is steeped in style from its pitched roof down to the walkways below, wearing its inspiration from classical British architecture and business on its sleeve. The set features a plethora of unique design aspects that can challenge even the most skilled LEGO builders, while including a wide cast of eclectic characters with its eight mini-figures. Tudor Corner does not slack in its vibrant colors either, with a swath of different hues to dazzle any builders who pick up the set.

LEGO Modular 2025 May Be Better than 2026

LEGO has seen a big week to kick off December with a wide array of new sets revealed for 2026. Alongside the release of Shopping Street in January, LEGO will debut multiple new "City" sets throughout the first few months of 2026, with new airport, helicopter, and emergency vehicle sets coming soon. LEGO's litany of collaborations will receive some new kits throughout the first half of 2025 as well, with the toy company revealing new LEGO sets for Marvel, Star Wars, and even Harry Potter. The popular Technic line will even get some updates throughout January, including some designs based on Bugatti and Porsche cars. LEGO fans should have lots to look forward to in early 2026, with a plethora of exciting kits on the way.
