Elden Ring master Let Me Solo Her has finally completed their run of the game where every enemy is Malenia, and they’ve done it without leveling vigor. Malenia is an Elden Ring boss infamous for being the most challenging boss fight in a game that is loaded with them. Subbing her in for literally every enemy in the game is a recipe for a degree of frustration that seems unfathomable. And not leveling vigor on top of that is a hindrance that sounds deeply unpleasant. But Let Me Solo Her has accomplished the impossible, and rather quickly to boot.
Let Me Solo Her first gained notoriety as an Elden Ring savior, of sorts. They would offer a helping hand to be summoned by players from all over the world who were struggling to defeat the agile and deadly boss. Players would be greeted by a nearly naked avatar with a jar on his head who was dual-wielding a pair of katanas and had a name that let the players know exactly how this was going to work: all they had to do was stand back and allow Let Me Solo Her take care of everything. In time, Let Me Solo Her became an Elden Ring folk hero, a sword master capable of taking out difficult bosses while wearing no armor for protection.
Needing a new mountain to climb, in March 2023 Let Me Solo Her announced they would attempt a run through Elden Ring where every enemy was replaced with Malenia. To make things even more challenging, they would do it without leveling Vigor, the stat that expands the player’s health bar. It took Let Me Solo Her around 10 hours to do it. A lot of that time was spent strategically avoiding areas with high enemy density, and the job was completed during an April 25 live stream.
Let Me Solo Her established three primary goals for the run to give the live streams a sharper focus. The first and perhaps most masochistic was the “No leveling vigor” requirement. Next, they had to acquire their now-iconic Jar helm, which meant traversing a dangerous lava area that was made all the more deadly by the sheer volume of Malenias strewn about. Finally, the third goal was to beat the game, which is much easier said than done under normal circumstances and all but impossible when every enemy is the deadliest enemy in Elden Ring.
Let Me Solo Her has made the impossible possible several times over, and has even been rewarded for their work with a gift box sent directly from FromSoftware that included a prop sword and a personalized note of congratulations for having defeated over 1,000 Malenias as a summon. Beating the game where every enemy is Malenia with only the starting health bar is just another notch on their belt.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
