Summary

  • A new Giant Sapsucker outdoor monster has been added in the V70 update for Lethal Company players.
  • Patch reworked the radar system and mansion level, added new furniture, monster, and log from Sigurd.
  • Radar now includes face cam, room display, compass, and a line to exit for improved coordination.

On May 31, Lethal Company launched the V70 update, which added the new Giant Sapsucker creature as an outdoor monster for players to deal with. Along with the gigantic monster, Lethal Company also added new furniture pieces like a microwave and a fridge, and reworked the game's radar system and mansion level.

Originally released in October 2023, Lethal Company took the indie game scene by storm and quickly became one of Steam's most popular titles heading into 2024. Since its launch in early access, Lethal Company has received updates that include immersive maps for players to explore and new hazards for them to fight or run from. The success of Lethal Company also paved the way for other indie co-op titles like REPO to thrive on Valve's storefront. Although the game's player count has ebbed and flowed with each major update, Lethal Company still holds an overwhelmingly positive rating of 97% on Steam.

A super weird Steam game goes up for grabs for free for a limited time, with the hopes of adding more players to its already huge user-base.

Following a tease on social media concerning the addition of a new monster, Lethal Company players now have a new foe to contend with in the V70 update, also known as The Incubating Update. The Giant Sapsucker is a large woodpecker that can rapidly break off the company ship's doors with its long beak. While the Sapsucker's Eggs can be looted and sold for scrap, they will instantly hatch and alert the giant bird to the kidnapper's presence.

The Giant Sapsucker can be found most commonly on the 56-Vow moon level. According to developer Zeekerss, Lethal Company's V70 update is the first of several planned patches that will rework the interiors of various levels and add new creatures for players to face. The mansion's interior got an overhaul, as eight new rooms and hallways have been added alongside new pieces of loot.

Lethal Company's V70 patch also gave the radar system some adjustments, including a face cam that allows players to see their teammates via the ship's terminal. 2D sprites are now used to display rooms within each level, along with a compass and a line that shows a path between the currently viewed player and the exit of an indoor level. The radar changes should make it easier for Lethal Company groups to coordinate and work together to get everyone out alive.

New furniture pieces like a microwave and an electric chair were also included in Lethal Company's V70 update. Players who use Lethal Company mods should check to see which ones are supported in V70 and update accordingly.

Lethal Company V70 Patch Notes (May 31, 2025)

Overhauled the radar

  • Added a face cam which allows you to see your fellow employees on the terminal.
  • Reworked the radar's appearance, now using 2D sprites to display rooms.
  • Added a compass to the HUD and to the terminal; pinging your scanner makes it more visible at the bottom of the screen.
  • Added a line on the radar which shows the path from the currently viewed player to the exit.
  • Added contour lines to represent terrain outdoors

This should bring the radar up to the visual standard of the rest of the game and make it easier to make a difference as the computer guy.

Added new furniture

  • Fridge
  • Sofa chair
  • Dog house
  • Microwave
  • Electric Chair

Some of these you can sit on or store scrap inside!

Added a new outdoor daytime creature, the Giant Sapsucker

(which is common to Vow)

Reworked the mansion interior

  • Added about 8 new rooms/hallways with lots of interactable objects for scrap to hide inside.
  • Added cabinets which can spawn in the hallways.
  • Shrunk the vertical size of many rooms/hallways in the mansion to a more accurate scale.
  • Overhauled the logic used to generate the mansion layouts.

Now the mansion should be more interesting to explore, and has more opportunities to loop back in on itself and create non-linear layouts.

Added a new log from Sigurd: "Team Synergy"

I am planning to rework the way Sigurd's logs are found so that they will appear like rare scrap in the interiors. For now, this one is in Artifice.

Updated the Company Cruiser

  • Reinforced materials. It can now withstand knocking into many, many trees and rocks.
  • The Company Cruiser now passively tries to set itself upright.
  • There is now a tiny boost when pressing down the pedal after changing gears.

Various minor bug fixes

This is the first of a series of several updates in which I'll be reworking or adding rooms to each interior, as well as adding new creatures, leading up to the update that takes the game out of Early Access.

I hope you enjoy the changes here!
