Lies of P has smashed its way past three million copies sold, nearly two years after its launch across PC and consoles. This news comes on the heels of the release of Lies of P's DLC, which was shadow-dropped on June 6, 2025.
South Korean developer Neowiz struck gold with its dark spin on the classic tale of Pinocchio when it rolled out Lies of P in 2023. Despite being available as a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass, the action-RPG still managed to move units at an impressive rate, reaching sales of one million within a month of its arrival. Following this success, a new expansion called Lies of P: Overture was announced in February 2025 and was released to a positive reception. As expected, it now turns out that the launch of the DLC has reignited interest in the Soulslike title and pushed it towards another major commercial achievement.
Lies of P: Overture is Proof One Soulslike Tradition Needs to Die
Lies of P: Overture is a perfect example of why Soulslike DLCs that make it difficult to even access them should be a thing of the past.
In a new announcement, Lies of P revealed that it had crossed the three million mark in sales. This statement arrived about 21 months after the RPG's launch in September 2023. The Neowiz-developed title had reached sales of one million back in October 2023, meaning that it took the game over a year and a half to hit the latest milestone. It's important to keep in mind that Lies of P was a Game Pass day-one title and only left Xbox's subscription service in March, which would have slowed down its sales. For the same reason, the number of units sold doesn't exactly translate into the number of players, which is apparently much higher. In March itself, the number of Lies of P players was announced to have touched seven million.
Lies of P Crosses 3 Million Copies Sold
Understandably, Lies of P hitting a new sales milestone right after the launch of its highly awaited DLC may not be a coincidence. That's because Lies of P: Overture, which brings tons of new content, boosted the original's engagement considerably. On Steam alone, the DLC helped Lies of P break its previous peak concurrent player count and enabled it to reach a new high of 30,095 players. The recent discounts on the base game, the latest of which saw its Steam version get a 50% price cut, may have also contributed to the fantasy title selling well.
As fans once again dive into the world of Krat, thanks to Overture's release, Neowiz devs are hard at work making the Lies of P sequel. Given that the plans for a follow-up were confirmed just several weeks after the first game's launch, it may be fair to expect development to be well underway at the moment. Earlier in 2025, Neowiz's financial report revealed that the sequel was planned to arrive around FY2026, which starts on April 1, 2026, and ends on March 31, 2027.
