When Lies of P first launched in 2023, it made a strong impression thanks to its gothic twist on the classic tale of Pinocchio, inciting numerous comparisons to FromSoftware's 2015 cult-classic Bloodborne. Despite tough competition in the soulslike genre, Lies of P has managed to carve out a solid fan base - particularly helped by its day one Xbox Game Pass launch. However, after Lies of P left the subscription service in March 2025, its popularity on Steam quietly began growing. This slow build has now exploded following the release of Lies of P's much-awaited Overture DLC and a big update aimed at new and returning players.

At the time of writing, Lies of P is being played by nearly 24,000 Steam users.

It's worth noting that Lies of P is available with a 50 percent discount on Steam until June 12, so this has likely encouraged more players to pick up the game and try it out too. However, there are quite a lot of compelling additions in the Overture DLC, which is designed to be Lies of P's ultimate challenge. Fans have praised Lies of P: Overture's punishing gameplay and atmospheric storytelling, as well as the new difficulty options and boss rematch system that lets skilled players take on previous foes or a boss gauntlet with limited resources, adding significant replay value to the game.
