Lies of P fans are set to get a fresh look at its newly announced DLC, Lies of P: Overture, at an Xbox livestream on February 24, 2025. Lies of P: Overture is an expansion for the 2023 original, which is set to roll out in Summer 2025.
Picking bits from the 19th-century novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, South Korean developers, Neowiz and Round8 Studio, together came up with an action RPG titled Lies of P that was released in September 2023. Upon release, the Soulslike game was met with a highly encouraging critical reception and sold over a million units within a month despite being an Xbox Game Pass day-one title. In the time since then, the excitement among fans about a potential follow-up to Lies of P has grown significantly, having reached a notable high during PlayStation's State of Play stream a week ago. On February 12, fans got their first look at the Lies of P: Overture DLC, thanks to an action-packed announcement trailer.
Lies of P: Overture's Broad Release Window is a Boon for a Few Reasons
Lies of P's long-awaited expansion is finally set to release this Summer, and the broad release window will no doubt help the game succeed.
On Twitter, the official Lies of P account teased the appearance of a new trailer for Lies of P: Overture during the ID@Xbox Showcase stream on February 24. The brief video in the post reveals an up-close look at a masked, sword-bearing female character from the forthcoming expansion, which is set to tell a story that takes place before the events of the base game. Lies of P fans can tune into the digital event on YouTube, starting at 10 AM PST. Besides Neowiz's action game, Xbox's indie developer-focused event is also expected to bring fresh announcements and updates related to other projects.
New Lies of P: Overture Trailer to be One Among Several Reveals
In 2024, the ID@Xbox Showcase put together a diverse list of games that appeared during the stream, ranging from the narrative-driven Lost Records: Bloom & Rage to the puzzle-heavy All You Need Is Help. For this year's event, a long list of collaborating studios has already been confirmed by event partner IGN. Among the participating developers are Don’t Nod, Panic, Playstack, 11 Bit, Akupara Games, BigFan, Critical Reflex, Cult Games, Curve, Daedalic, Game Source Entertainment, No More Robots, Raw Fury, Thunder Lotus, and Team17.
As for Lies of P fans, the forthcoming DLC isn't the only thing that is currently in the works for the fantasy IP. That's because the director of the original, Choi Ji-won, has already confirmed in the past that a sequel is in development as well. With an expansion and a new mainline entry set to arrive in the future, it will be interesting to see if the Lies of P follow-ups can recreate the notable success of the first game.
