Like many of the games that it draws inspiration from, Lies of P contains a wide range of side quests that can often be tricky to complete. The new Lies of P Overture DLC continues this gameplay aspect not long after it begins. Once you begin the Overture DLC, you'll find yourself in a version of Krat that no longer exists in the present, hinting that you've somehow traveled back in time. Near the end of the first region, you will likely encounter the Golden Seed, which kicks off one of the first side quests in Overture. In this guide, we'll show you exactly where to find, and where to plant, the Golden Seed in Lies of P Overture.

Where to Find the Golden Seed in Lies of P Overture

Toma's Faded Whistle Required:

The Golden Seed is found fairly early in the Overture DLC, but getting it requires one very important piece of equipment. You want to make sure you have the Faded Whistle from much earlier in the base game. It is acquired during Toma's side quest in the second chapter.

LoPO-Golden-Seed-Start-Point

To acquire the Golden Seed, you'll need to start from the Jungle Zone Walkway Stargazer. This will be the third Stargazer found in Overture's first chapter. From the Stargazer, proceed past the elephant/gator monstrosity mini-boss that awards you the Genius's Legion Plug. Not long after the fight, you'll encounter a dead tree filled with birdhouses.

In front of the tree, you'll see a sign that reveals the following message:

Quiet, please! The birds are resting. Please do not shout or blow whistles near the aviary.

At this point, a small hint will appear on the screen telling you to use the Faded Whistle. To do so, simply add it to your belt or Extra Bag. Using the Faded Whistle will cause the birds to flee the tree, which causes the Golden Seed to drop in turn. Pick up the Golden Seed from the ground and move on for now.

If you do not have the Faded Whistle, it may be possible to use the Horn that Alidoro (called "The Tracker") gives you later in the game. This is not confirmed, so we will test it as soon as possible. If you've tried this method, please let us know the results in the comments.

Where to Plant the Golden Seed in Lies of P Overture

Timeline Games at Hotel Krat:

Once you've acquired the Golden Seed, the obvious question you'll ask is, "Where do I plant this thing?" When you examine the item details, the following passage reveals the pertinent information:

If planted in a suitable garden, it may one day sprout something unexpected.

Reading this passage will likely cause you to think of the garden at Hotel Krat where the Gold Coin Fruit Tree is located. This instinct is correct, but if you return to the hotel in the base game, you'll find that you simply cannot plant the seed anywhere in the garden. This comes down to the fact that Overture plays some games with the Lies of P timeline, and you must wait until the time is right for the seed to be planted.

What ends up occurring is that you will eventually arrive at the Hotel Krat in the Overture DLC, which exists long before the events of the base game. This new version of the hotel, called the Eventide Hotel Krat, will be encountered after you fully complete Chapter 1. After you defeat Markiona, and pass the Carnival, you'll reach a tram that takes you to the hotel.

Once you arrive at the hotel, head to the Miraculous Flower Garden, the new name for the garden where the Gold Coin Fruit Tree is located. To the right of the tree, you will see a white planter on a pedestal. Approach the planter with the Golden Seed, and you'll see the prompt to plant it. Once this is complete, the waiting game begins. Luckily, you won't have to return every ten minutes to see whether it has sprouted.

When to Return to the Planter:

It is important to note now that there is no use returning to the planter until you've completed the Overture DLC's final boss at the end of Chapter 5. You will know when this has occurred, as the game informs you. You will encounter a "Point of no return" warning before the final boss, but don't worry, that does not apply to the Golden Seed.

Once you've completed Chapter 5, return to Hotel Krat in the present timeline, not the Forgotten Time. There you will find a group of Golden Roses in the planter waiting to be picked.

What to Do with the Golden Roses in Lies of P Overture

LoPO-Golden-Seed-Roses-Use

Once you have picked the Golden Roses in the present timeline, there is only one thing you can use them for. Approach the Gramophone (record player) in the present timeline, and you will see a hint pop-up that tells you this is the location to use the Golden Roses. Interact with the Gramophone, and you'll see a new option which allows you to 'Decorate' it.

After you place the roses, the following message appears:

The gramophone now holds a cherished memory.

We did not notice any new items in the gramophone, so for now it appears that the Golden Roses are only a cosmetic addition. Should we discover any further uses for the Golden Roses, or the 'cherished memory,' we will add that information here.
