Of all the mechanics in Lies of P, the timed lie mechanic may have been the most interesting. This system, which forced players to decide whether P would tell the truth or lie in a variety of situations, was incredibly well implemented, and played an important role in the overall narrative. Unsurprisingly, this mechanic returns in the Lies of P Overture DLC, and presents players with a whole new set of lies to contemplate. In this guide, we'll explore the decisions that players have to make when they encounter Goddard, the Blind Painter early in the expansion, and answer this simple question: should you lie to Goddard the Blind Painter in Lies of P Overture?
All New Legion Arms in Lies of P Overture (& How to Get Them)
Lies of P Overture introduces two new Legion Arms to use in the Forgotten Time. Here's where to find them.
Goddard the Blind Painter Best Choice – Lies of P Overture
Lies of P Overture features many different types of choices, but the most interesting choices are found in the game's lie mechanic. Given that the game is based on the original Pinocchio novel, it's not surprising that lying plays a large role in the game. In this specific instance, P must decide whether to lie to an artist who has lost their vision.
If you've played the base game, you'll know that lying plays a huge role in P's overall humanity, as it is stated many times in the game that only humans can lie. Most of the lies P can tell in the base game are meant to make you think about why humans lie in the first place, and whether it is truly always bad. Sometimes, we may lie to spare someone's feelings, or to stop a situation from getting out of hand. The situation with Goddard early in the Overture DLC fits into this theme perfectly.
Should You Lie to Goddard?
The question of lying to Goddard is really dependent on whether you are trying to increase P's humanity level, as that is the only real difference between the two options. If you are trying to increase P's humanity, then the answer is a resounding yes, you should absolutely lie to Goddard the Blind Painter. Doing so will grant a boost to P's humanity level.
To lie to Goddard, make sure you pick the following option:
- Incredible! It is a brilliant work of art.
Lying in this fashion is one of the best ways to increase P's humanity, along with other major choices, such as saluting Veronique during Chapter 2.
If you choose to tell Goddard the truth, you will not get a second chance to lie. She will become very upset and ask you to leave. If you return later in the game, she will no longer be in her chair.
Where to Find Goddard the Blind Painter in Lies of P Overture
While most players will likely spot Goddard, it is possible to miss her if you rush through the Zoo Tram Station early in Overture. You'll find Goddard at the very end of Chapter 1, just before you get on the tram headed for Eventide Hotel Krat. You can see her sitting in a wheelchair from the Zoo Tram Station Stargazer. Simply look to the left of the entrance to the tram, and you'll see Goddard.
