When it comes to life sims, the Sims franchise is the first one that comes to mind. However, it is far from the only one. Life by You is an upcoming life simulator by Paradox Interactive, and it promises to offer many features of The Sims and more.

Early access for the game begins on June 4, which will give gamers a chance to see whether the upcoming PC game will be a Sims killer. Already it seems like the game will have one advantage over The Sims: it will feature an open world.

Life By YOu
Life By You Needs a Lot More Juice to Stack Up to Its Competition

Paradox has finally shed light on its Sims competitor Life By You, but the game seems to lack a level of charm to truly make it the Sims killer.

What is Life by You?

As the trailer reveals, Life by You has a lot of features allowing players to unleash their imagination as they forge their own digital lives. Everything from creating characters and forging relationships to making and fine-tuning lots will be available. Not only will players be able to play as their own characters, but they will be able to take control of NPCs and live out their lives.

The game can be played in first and third person and, amazingly, it will feature real-world languages between characters. Most of the customization features used by the developer will be available for players, including the quest creator. This makes it a big competitor for The Sims 5.

Life by You Will Embrace Mods

Much like the revered Sims franchise, mods will be available for players to manipulate the game as they please. To help modders out, Paradox will be providing a range of Creator Tools.

Life by You's Open World and Project Rene

Perhaps most notably, Life by You will be open-world with no loading screens. There will also be transportation methods to get around the open world, including cars and scooters. This may be where Life by You trumps The Sims, as The Sims 4 isn't truly open-world.

In the Sims 4, you cannot drive and players cannot follow Sims to most of their jobs. This makes Life by You sound incredibly ambitious, which is exciting but also leaves a lot of room for disappointment if things go wrong. However, if Paradox can deliver on its promises, it'll raise the bar for what players will expect from Project Rene.

Early Access Treats for Life by You

Players who opt for Life by You early access will receive a host of goodies. This includes the Nightlife Vibes Pack and Life Begins Pack as well as an in-game vintage scooter. Players will also get the Jumpstart Fashion Pack and Walls to Floors Decor Pack. Interestingly, the first 100,000 early access players will gain access to the private Discord.

Life by You seems exciting as it promises so much freedom. The open world is a feature that will be much appreciated if implemented correctly, and Project Rene should be watching closely as it may have a strong competitor on its hands if it cannot offer its own open world, let alone a life sim that can beat out an increasingly crowded market nowadays.
