Back when Life is Strange: True Colors  was announced in March, Square Enix confirmed that the upcoming sequel wouldn't be the only Life is Strange  release dropping in 2021. Alongside the follow-up, the Life is Strange: Remastered Collection  was scheduled to hit shelves on September 30, reimagining Max and Chloe's seminal story with upgraded visuals and animations.

As revealed via a statement on the franchise's Twitter account earlier today, that's no longer the case, with the Life is Strange  team announcing it's postponing the remaster's release until early 2022. With plans originally seeing True Colors  and the re-release launch within the same month, the post reveals the delay will help "alleviate any additional pressure on the Life is Strange team," giving the devs extra time to work on and launch the Remastered Collection.

However, September 30 is still set to be a big day for Life is Strange  fans. Alongside the announcement of the delay, the statement also revealed that Life is Strange: Wavelengths  will be filling the empty spot left by the remastered collection. Previously announced as a prequel chapter to True Colors, Wavelength will focus entirely on Steph Gingrich, a returning character from Life is Strange: Before the Storm  and one of the key players in True Colors'  story. Deck Nine confirms it'll be airing a trailer for the add-on tomorrow, which will likely offer a closer insight into its narrative.

For those who haven't been keeping up with Square Enix's latest announcements, Life is Strange Remastered  looks to be a significant overhaul of the franchise's first outing. Not only will it feature all of its DLC, including Deck Nine's acclaimed Life is Strange: Before the Storm  chapters, but it also comes with enhanced visuals, new animations, refined puzzles, lighting upgrades, and more.

As for True Colors,  it'll be the next mainline entry in the franchise, offering a new story following a death in the secluded town of Haven Springs. Players will take on the role of the victim's sister, Alex, who has a secret power that allows her to read the emotions of those around her. Players will have to dig into the secrets of Haven Springs' residents and use Alex's supernatural abilities to uncover the truth behind the death.

Unlike previous iterations of the series, Life is Strange: True Colors  won't release episodically, with the entire game launching on September 10. Developer duties have also passed from Dontnod Entertainment to Deck Nine, seeing it take the reins on its first mainline Life is Strange  project following its work on Before the Storm.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection  is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S during 2022.
