Like a Dragon: Ishin is an action RPG set during the late 1800s in Japan. Taking on the role of a Samurai named Ryoma, players will find themselves in a plot that is embroiled in political intrigue, suspense, and betrayals. However, outside of the main story, Ryoma lends a helping hand to the locals solving their problems, big or small, in the form of Substories.
One of these good deeds in Like a Dragon: Ishin is the Substory number 05, Talkin' Tosa side quest. In this story, a shopkeeper courting the affections of a woman from Tosa is exchanging letters with her. Unfortunately, he doesn't understand her Tosa slang in the letters, and it's up to Ryoma to help him translate it. As with several other substories in Like a Dragon: Ishin, this quest doesn't require combat skills, but players must answer correctly to get all the rewards.
Locating The Talkin' Tosa Substory
The Talkin' Tosa Subtory is found Northwest of Rakunai in Nichibuza, Kawaramach. Players must approach the man named Fujie standing outside an establishment, reading over some letters.
After a brief conversation, explaining how he feels about the lady, Ryoma will offer to help translate the Tosa-ben dialect for him. As Ryoma's backstory explains, he's also from Tosa. The reading events take place three times. Follow these steps to get the correct answers for the Talkin' Tosa Substory.
The Answers To The Talkin' Tosa Questions
After explaining his situation to Ryoma, Fujie will pull out the letters from his girlfriend in Tosa. Struggling to understand the Tosa-ben accent she used in her mail, he will ask Ryoma a series of questions.
Fujie's First Letter
Question One
In the first question, Fujie struggles to understand what she means when she states it's been a spell. The answer to this question is It's been a while.
Question Two
The second translation Fujie will have for Ryoma is when the lady says, this 'n's. It means this one is, as the lady refers to herself in the third person. So the answer to this question is I.
Question Three
The third translation requested by Fujie is she says, all y' are, which translates as all you are. So the answer to this question is, She means "you."
After answering the first three questions, Fujie will be happy he's starting to understand the letters. He will need Ryoma's help again, so leave the area by walking around the corner, complete some quests and return so Fujie will reappear for the second round of questions.
After finishing the translation, Fujie will reward Ryoma with some Fine Silk Fabric.
Fujie's Second Letter
Question Four
Fujie receives a second letter from the love of his life and doesn't understand the meaning of is it religiously that? The answer to this question is She means, "is that every day?" Doing something religiously is to do something with commitment.
Question Five
The next question refers to Fujie's girlfriend explaining that The tremblin' takes me. The answer to this translation is Her heart aches because she misses him.
Question Six
The sixth translation that Fujie requests is, Meet in a twinklin'. This means soon, so the answer is Meet Soon.
After finishing the translation, Fujie will reward Ryoma with a Platinum Chunk.
Fujie's Third Letter
Ryoma will again need to leave the area and return for Fujie to reappear with his third and final letter for translation.
Question Seven
The first question Fujie will have for Ryoma is what his girlfriend means when she says, bust me bum? The answer is to Stumble and fall - referring to her metaphorically falling on her backside.
Question Eight
The following translation Fujie needs from Ryoma is about men who won't take the plunge. She means some men are afraid to commit to marriage, so the answer is Cowardly men.
Question Nine
The final question from Fujie is a request for advice. He asks Ryoma what she wants him to say. The answer is Tell her how you feel.
After taking Ryoma's advice, Fujie leaves to ask his girlfriend to marry him. With all the letters translated, leave the area and get into some fights in Like a Dragon. Then for the last time to speak to Fujie. Fujie will explain that she has agreed to marry him and rewards Ryoma with the Phoenix Feather and a minimum of 350 virtue points.
