With Little Nightmares 3 coming to consoles and PC in October, there's surely an allotment of fans that need to catch up on the series. Luckily for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 owners, you can download the well-reviewed puzzle-platform horror adventure game for just a few dollars.
For a limited time, the Nintendo eShop is featuring a sale on Little Nightmares 2 that offers Tarsier Studios' title at 90% off. That brings the game down to a mere $3 to download. And while the game only officially launched on the original Switch, it's fully playable on the Switch 2 thanks to backwards compatibility.
Little Nightmares 2 Reviews
In the original Little Nightmares, players were essentially helpless and were forced to navigate the game's world with no real way to defend themselves. Its sequel modifies gameplay, allowing for the lead character to engage in combat and defend themselves with hammers and axes. You can't just go around mashing buttons though, as weapon usage must be well-timed or else you'll find yourself quickly overwhelmed by enemies quite easily.
In The Best War Games's 8/10 review, it was noted that Little Nightmares 2 "successfully addressed many of the complaints that people had about the first game, while delivering a more well-rounded horror game overall." Improvements over the initial game include more open level designs, better platforming controls, a generous checkpoint system, and more.
It wasn't just our outlet that enjoyed the sequel, as the Nintendo Switch version sits at an impressive 82 on MetaCritic. Despite having been released nearly four years ago, the game remains incredibly popular. In fact, it became one of the most played games on Xbox Game Pass when it joined the library earlier this month.
The Little Nightmares 2 Nintendo eShop sale ends on August 4th.
What's New in Little Nightmares 3?
Little Nightmares 2's popularity is probably somewhat tied to the impending release of Little Nightmares 3. This third entry is being developed by Supermassive Games, and this time it's being developed as a cooperative horror adventure. If you don't have a friend to play along with, you can still play solo with an AI companion.
Little Nightmares 3 will feature a pair of new protagonists in Low and Alone. The duo seek to desperately escape the dystopian Spiral. Low and Alone will play through various locations, including a desert, fair, factory, and others. A demo was playable at San Diego Comic Con, one that we hope comes to consoles and PC ahead of launch. Separate from Little Nightmares 3 is also a new VR spinoff entitled Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes.
