Developed by Free Range Games, Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria takes players on a thrilling adventure through the once-majestic Dwarven city of Khazad-dûm that now lies in ruins within Moria. As players venture into the Mines of Moria, they can find a wealth of resources, ranging from metals like iron and gold to a variety of gemstones, including Black Diamonds.

Hidden deep within the Mines of LOTR-Return to Moria, these Black Diamonds are hoarded by Orcs who recognize their beauty and strength. These gems are valuable tools that enable players to repair and craft Map Stones, which are necessary for fast travel and gaining access to new regions of the realm.

Where to Find Black Diamonds in LOTR: Return to Moria

Lord of the Rings Return To Moria: character

Listed below are the different ways players can find the rare Black Diamonds in Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria.

  • Looting Orkish Chests

Located within Orc Camps, Orkish Chests are the most reliable way to get Black Diamonds in Return to Moria. These Orc camps are scattered throughout the Mines of Moria, with unique camp locations for each player due to the game's procedurally generated world.

To unlock Orkish Chests, players need an Orc Key, which can be easily obtained by breaking the wooden totem next to the chest using a pickaxe. Once the totem is destroyed, any Orcs and Goblins surrounding it disappear instantly, allowing players to quickly open Orkish Chests without engaging in unnecessary combat. Each Orkish Chest typically contains 1-3 Black Diamonds.

The contents of these chests vary based on the region of Moria where the player is located. Black Diamonds can be found in Orkish chests present in the Western Halls. Additionally, if players venture into the Orc Town, they can find numerous Orkish Chests containing multiple Black Diamonds. Unfortunately, none of the Orkish chests present in the Elven Quarters contain Black Diamonds.

Orc Camps and Orkish Chests do not respawn in the same locations.

  • Defeating Bosses

Eliminating the Orc Bosses found deep within the Mines and the Orc City is a promising way of acquiring 10+ Black Diamonds in one go. Additionally, players can challenge Bolgakh, one of the game’s most formidable enemy bosses, to be rewarded with Black Diamonds.

  • Horde Events

Although not guaranteed, another method to farm Black Diamonds in Return to Moria involves triggering horde events. The simplest way to initiate horde events is by engaging in mining activities and creating noise. By defeating all the enemies that spawn, players have the opportunity to obtain 0-3 Black Diamonds per event.

Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria is available on PC. The PS5 version launches on December 5. The Xbox Series X and S version is coming in early 2024.
