The Lord of the Rings is an iconic film that never seems to age, even though it has been over twenty-four years since its release. Two of the film's stars, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, who played Merry and Pippin in the franchise, have been showing off their brand-new travel and food TV show, which includes another special LOTR guest.

The pair starred as the dynamic duo in Peter Jackson's trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, which saw the cousins and best friends land themselves constantly in plenty of mischief, especially when it came to trying Gandalf's patience. Always open for adventures, Merry and Pippin accompanied Frodo Baggins on his epic quest to destroy the ring in the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor. Even though the pair ended up getting separated during the destruction of Isengard when Merry stayed behind with Aragorn to go to war with the people of Rohan, the cheeky twosome remained close, becoming two of the most important characters in The Lord of the Rings' ever-expending narrative. Now, many years later, Monaghan and Boyd take on another quest, but this time in real life, and it might even include a second breakfast.

Lord of the Rings Stars New TV Series Shows Meet Up With Gandalf

Merry and Pippin from Lord of the Rings

As reported by Digital Spy, The Lord of the Rings stars have met up with another iconic actor from the franchise as they showcased their new TV show. The pair's next adventure will be a travel show called Billy and Dom: Eat the World, where they will travel the globe to meet new people and cook up a storm but also keep them in touch with their Hobbit roots. Just like in the movies, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd will adventure across the lands in search of the best food while also getting to experience different cultures and experiences. Hopefully, this time though, they don't get into so much trouble and can stay out of climbing very old and huge trees.

Ahead of the series' release date, which is set for April 11, 2025, Monaghan and Boyd showcased a trailer for the documentary on Instagram which showcased some behind-the-scenes photos about who they met up with on their travels. Of course, no Hobbit adventure would ever be complete without the White Wizard himself, Gandalf, played by Sir Ian McKellen. In the photo, Monaghan, Boyd, and McKellen can be seen standing in a bar looking very happy with themselves, where they may or may not have sampled some of the goods. A few other images included the pair taking a dip in an outside bath, building a massive fire on the beach and, somehow, getting knighted.

Boyd said, “It is so exciting to now take that passion we have for travel and new experiences into this TV show.” Monaghan also stated, “I have known Billy for over 20 years and in that time have been lucky enough to travel with him extensively. Since The Return of the King [we've] been looking for something new to do on screen together that people who follow our careers may enjoy." According to the comments in the post, Lord of the Rings fans also can't wait to watch the show, with many saying they are looking forward to finally continuing Merry and Pippin's escapades many years later.
