Developer Weta Workshop and publisher Private Division have teamed up with merchandiser iam8bit to reveal Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 physical editions of the upcoming cozy life-sim game Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game. Also planned to release digitally for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S, the physical versions of Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will include exclusive bonuses for fans to add to their game collections.

In spite of several delays that pushed the game back from its original release window of 2024, player enthusiasm for Tales of the Shire continues to hold strong, with many fans excited for a new video game based on The Lord of the Rings. Presently slated for launch on July 29, 2025, players now have the option of choosing a physical copy of Tales of the Shire to enjoy come release day.
