Lost Ark has detailed the features and playstyle of its next addition to the class roster, the Reaper advanced class for Assassins. The Reaper will be coming to the Western version of Lost Ark next week, so gamers have a little time before then to learn about the class and plan out their builds.

After debuting in the gaming industry with its flagship New World MMORPG last year, Amazon Games would follow up soon after by bringing 2019's Korean MMO Lost Ark to Western audiences. Lost Ark's record-breaking launch saw huge numbers of players adventuring through the world of Arkesia, helped by the fact that the game is free-to-play and features a huge amount of character customization and action-packed Diablo-style isometric carnage. Since the Western version is a bit behind the original Korean release, Lost Ark periodically releases new content and classes to catch up. Although much of this content is old news for veterans of the Korean client, they are welcome developments for Western gamers.

As revealed earlier in Lost Ark's 2022 Roadmap, the latest class to be joining the roster is the Assassin's Reaper advanced class which will come with the November 16 update next week. A Lost Ark Academy post has helpfully detailed the workings of the Reaper class, which uses a mix of daggers, clones, stealth, and shadow skills to devastating effect. The Reaper's primary mechanic is its transformations between Normal mode, Persona Mode, and finally Chaos Mode. The goal for Reapers is to quickly reach Chaos Mode for substantial bonuses to important stats.

The Reaper begins in Normal mode, with each attack building up the Persona meter. Once the meter is filled, the Reaper can become stealthy and summon an illusion by entering Persona Mode. Dealing further damage in Persona Mode will eventually lead to the Chaos Mode transformation, which gives buffs to Crit Rate, Move Speed, and Attack Speed. This new class for Lost Ark has a number of abilities focused on mobility and ambush, such as Nightmare where the Reaper throws a dagger and teleports to its target or Black Mist which allows the Reaper to move without colliding with players or monsters.

Another major Lost Ark update later this month is expected to introduce several new raids, including the Kal Eligos guardian raid and the first three gates of the Brelshaza raid, where players will face off against the commander of the Shadow Legion.

Lost Ark is available on PC.
