CD Projekt Red is partnering with Amazon and Smilegate for a Lost Ark crossover event with The Witcher. The Korean MMO has proven to be quite the success since Amazon localized it and released it in February. The initial version of Lost Ark released worldwide was several updates and expansions behind the Korean version, though, setting it up for significant updates post-launch. The Witcher collaboration is one crossover Amazon won't be waiting too long for.The growth of The Witcher's popularity has been astonishing to see. What was once a small franchise grew into something extremely successful in just three games. But even after the end of The Witcher trilogy, the love for The Witcher only expanded. The Witcher television show on Netflix brought in an entirely new audience that may have no interest in video games or novels. Now CD Projekt Red has announced plans for a new trilogy for The Witcher, and continued collaborations like with Lost Ark.RELATED: Lost Ark Reveals Patch Notes for Feast With Friends UpdateLost Ark players can look forward to an exciting new Witcher-themed event full of great Witcher content. According to Amazon, players will be able to travel to a new island named White Wolf's Haven to start the event. A "mysterious vortex" will appear on this island and the resulting investigation will lead players to Geralt of Rivia himself. Worlds will collide, and Geralt won't be the only Witcher character players meet. Yennefer, Triss, Dandelion, and Ciri are just a few familiar faces confirmed for the event.

The Witcher crossover with Lost Ark is already available in the Korean version of the MMO. Players across the world feared that the event wouldn't be brought to their version of the game until much later, if ever, but Amazon is moving fast. The Witcher collaboration event will officially start in January 2023.

As would be expected from a crossover event, there will also be plenty of Witcher-themed rewards to earn and cosmetics available for purchase. Some content teased for the event includes character customization scars, Cards, Stronghold structures, emojis, and more. Given the limited natured of the event, many rewards can be missed by those who don't participate.

Admittedly, this is a bit of an odd crossover. While Lost Ark is a fantasy MMO, it and The Witcher have dramatically different approaches to the genre. Still, Lost Ark is a free-to-play game and The Witcher is both popular and can easily be monetized. With that said, it should still be a fun event and any new playable content is welcome. Expect further information as the event approaches release in January.

Lost Ark is available now on PC.
