Don’t let Lost Castle 2’s 2D visuals deceive you; this is far from a simplistic roguelike. With over 200 weapon options, hundreds of armor sets, and an extensive list of treasures, Lost Castle 2 offers the flexibility to create dozens of unique classes, each tailored to specific combat styles.

If you want to build your character for consistent wins, this Lost Castle 2 guide has you covered. It will walk you through creating the perfect class, boosting your stats, and optimizing your item selection.

How to Build Your Character

As a roguelike with RPG elements, Lost Castle 2 takes a flexible approach to class setups. Since most items you acquire during expeditions are randomized, the game encourages you to adapt to various scenarios. At the start of the game, you select three weapon categories you’d prefer to find in reward chests. However, there’s no way to guarantee which other items—such as armor, treasures, or amulets—you’ll come across.

Even with the randomness, you can still customize your character before each adventure. By preparing your adventurer strategically, you can maximize loot and shape your desired class using the items you collect.

To build your character in Lost Castle 2, follow these steps before embarking on an expedition:

Step One: Weapon Preference

Speak to Serena, the merchant near the weapon slots, to set your weapon preferences. This choice determines which weapons are likely to appear in your chests. To improve your chances of getting the weapon you want, it’s best to toggle on only three weapon categories. Enabling all categories increases the randomization, making it less likely to obtain your desired Legendary item.

Step Two: Starter Weapon

After setting your weapon preferences, choose your starter weapon. Near Serena, you’ll find three blacksmith slots, each containing a weapon from your selected categories. Interact with one of these slots to equip your starting weapon.

If you’ve unlocked the Camp Upgrade “Repair the Forge Room,” you can refresh the starter weapon slots for a chance to obtain better items.

Step Three: Amulets

After equipping your weapon, the next step is to choose your Alchemy Amulet, a combination of multiple Amulets. Visit the Alchemist’s Hut and interact with his pot, where you’ll be prompted to select up to three Amulets to mix, generating a single buff potion.

Select Amulets that align with your desired class. For instance, if you’re building an assassin, prioritize Amulets that enhance SPD and ATK (speed and attack). Similarly, if you’re aiming for a mage build, focus on Amulets that increase MP.

Step Four: Hunter’s Gear

Before finalizing your build, select a Hunter’s Gear. This item can serve as your secondary weapon or as a source of additional HP regeneration.

As a rule, if you’re focusing on durability, opt for Hunter Gears like the Emergency HP Bottle or Banana. On the other hand, if you’re building toward ATK, items like the Portable Magic Turret are a better choice.

Step Five: Rune and Item Prioritization

Finally, begin your adventure and start shaping your character by selecting the right items and Runes to complement your build. The table below provides a guide on what to prioritize:

Single-Handed, Two-Handed, Turbo Lancer

The Best Build in Lost Castle 2

a tank build in lost castle 2.

If you're playing solo, the optimal build is a Tank Class with average ATK. To create this build, choose a Single-Handed Weapon and focus on Green and Red Runes. Here’s the complete list:

  • Weapon: Single-Handed
  • Starter Weapon: Wood Guardian
  • Alchemy Amulet: Forest Guardian’s Bud (HP increase), Crystal Core Fragment (Received DMG reduction), and Blood of Mutation (DEF and ATK buff after defeating each boss)
  • Hunter Gear: Emergency HP Bottle
  • Rune Priority: Parati (Green) and Akhil (Red)
  • Armor Priority: Heavy

Tips for Creating the Best Class Build

Here are some tips to achieve the best stats:

Build Around Synergies

Weapons, Treasures, and Runes in Lost Castle 2 all have synergies. For example, choosing an MP-gen Treasure while focusing on Blue Runes and using a Staff turns you into a mage—benefiting from the synergies between those items. When building your character, plan synergies ahead of time and only pick items that contribute to them.

Have a Backup Build in Mind

Lost Castle 2 is among games with high RNG. Before each adventure, consider a secondary class that you can switch to if you don’t get the items you need for your primary build.

Exploit Your Early Camp Upgrades

The ultimate goal is to max out your Camp Upgrades, but this takes time. Until your Camp is fully upgraded, spend your Coins strategically. For example, if you’re building a Tank class, prioritize the Armor Proficiency upgrade early on.
