The developer of the upcoming action-adventure title Lost Soul Aside has revealed more information about the game's day-one patch. One of the most highly anticipated RPGs of the year, Lost Soul Aside will launch for PC and PlayStation 5 on August 29, bringing with it inspiration from both the Final Fantasy series and other popular titles like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry.
Initially slated to launch in May, Lost Soul Aside was later delayed until August, with developer Ultizero Games stating that the extra time would give the team more time to polish the title. The game went gold earlier this month, and prospective players are eager to finally get their hands on the unique title, which has been in development since 2014. Initially conceived as a solo project by the Chinese developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside will tell the story of protagonist Kaser as he embarks on a journey to rescue his sister and save humanity from strange invaders known as the Voidrax. Kaser will be aided on his quest by Arena, a character able to transform into a multitude of different weapons on command.
Lost Soul Aside Has Big Shoes to Fill After Black Myth: Wukong
Following the immense commercial success of Black Myth: Wukong, Lost Soul Aside has far bigger shoes to fill than it did before.
In a new Twitter post, the developers of Lost Soul Aside have shared more about the game's day-one patch, which will be available on August 29. According to the post, the update will include performance optimizations and stability improvements for smoother gameplay, along with visually enhanced effects and overall audio refinements. Players are encouraged to install the patch for Lost Soul Aside on either PC or PS5 as soon as they have the game, in order to "experience the game under the best conditions." Earlier this week, the Twitter account also noted that some people had already gotten their hands on physical copies of the game, so players are urged to watch out for spoilers ahead of the title's official release.
Unfortunately, Lost Soul Aside's Steam release will reportedly be region-locked, preventing players in over 130 countries from easily being able to access the RPG, despite not requiring the registration of a PlayStation Network account. Players unable to access the game in their country may be able to circumvent the problem by creating an alternate Steam account set in a region where the game is available. It's unknown whether this issue will be addressed at launch.
Some exclusive features will be available for those picking up Lost Soul Aside on PC or the PS5 Pro, including full DualSense controller support and 4K + HDR visuals on the former and dynamic 4K with enhanced ray-traced reflections and shadow effects on the latter. Additionally, those choosing to snag the RPG for PC will still be able to synchronize their Trophies with the PS5 version.
