Lost Soul Aside Receives Its 4th Update in 7 Days

Ultizero Games has been trying to address the performance complaints with Lost Soul Aside updates, the latest of which has materialized on Friday, September 5. The fourth patch since the game's launch, this release introduces additional changes aimed at optimizing the action RPG's performance, frame rate, and stuttering on PC. The tweaks are said to be specific to "certain Windows versions," as per the developer's official patch notes.

Lost Soul Aside Details Significant Day 1 Update

In terms of severity, the single biggest issue resolved by the new update concerns a bug that prevented the Upgrade Menu from unlocking. While Ultizero did not elaborate on the root cause of the problem, the bug has now been fixed in a way that even applies retroactively, so there's no need to start a new save file to benefit from it—merely installing the new update will be enough. This particular problem is said to have only affected a small subset of players, with the Lost Soul Aside developer describing it as "a rare issue," albeit one that potentially affected both PC and PS5 players.

The new update also adjusts the attack mechanics of Greatsword skills, making them more responsive, in addition to improving Chapter 4 autosave logic. Kaser Roll's invincibility frames have been tweaked with the goal of delivering a "smoother" experience, the patch notes read, suggesting that the roll will be easier to pull off now. Bosses have been rebalanced across Normal, Hard, and Nightmare difficulty modes, and progression rewards were revised as well, with three skill points granted on new weapon unlocks and higher divine gold yields in tougher modes and Dispersed Dimension. Meanwhile, newly introduced VFX tuning aims to improve visual clarity in fights.

Other novelties that are part of the September 5 patch include smoother NPC animations, a new control scheme preset for controllers, and difficulty adjustments for various puzzles and mini-games. The update comes as Lost Soul Aside continues to receive mixed user feedback, holding a "Mixed" rating on Steam and a 3.68-star score on the PlayStation Store.
