A new update for Lost Soul Aside is now live for players on both PC and PlayStation 5, addressing a number of frustrating issues impacting the action-adventure RPG. Many of the game's negative reviews have stemmed from its performance issues, and this new patch for Lost Soul Aside aims to further optimize gameplay and improve the overall player experience.

Kaser confronts Victor - Lost Soul Aside

After a delay announced earlier this year, Lost Soul Aside was finally released on August 29, with players eager to experience the unique title influenced by both the Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry franchises. Players step into the role of Kaser, who is tasked with saving his sister, Louisa, and humanity itself from the Voidrax, mysterious otherworldly invaders capable of pulling out human souls. The game was initially a solo project helmed by developer Yang Bing, but it eventually evolved into a team effort, with Sony announcing that Lost Soul Aside would be part of the China Hero Project, which aims to support Chinese developers.

The development team has rolled out several patches for the game since its launch, including Lost Soul Aside's day-one patch, which provided comprehensive performance optimizations and stability improvements, along with gameplay upgrades. Now, Patch 1.009 continues to polish the RPG, with several bug fixes and adjustments across PS5 and PC. A bug causing unnatural music transitions between certain cutscenes has been fixed, along with an issue causing UI elements in cutscenes not to render properly on ultra-wide monitors. Additionally, PC players who were previously unable to snag their pre-order and Deluxe Edition rewards on the Epic Games Store should now be able to do so.

While hopes for the game were high in the weeks leading up to its highly anticipated launch, early reviews for Lost Soul Aside trended negative, with many players frustrated by the game's performance issues on PC. The developer is continuing to improve the game, but issues like camera stutters, visual bugs, and sudden FPS drops continue to be a problem for some fans. Lost Soul Aside currently boasts an average score of 63 on OpenCritic, with many applauding its combat but criticizing its story, characters, setting, and level design.
