Forged by a master dwarven craftsman, the Great Forge of Narvi once produced the finest weapons and armor in Middle-earth. It played a significant role in the dwarves' victories in their wars against the orcs and other enemies. Unfortunately, when the dwarves were driven out of their homeland by the Balrog, The Great Forge was abandoned and now lies in ruins within Moria in LOTR: Return to Moria.
Players must rebuild the Great Forge to unlock the ability to craft more advanced weapons, such as the Steel Hammer and Steel Pickaxe. This guide comprises everything players need to know to repair the Great Forge of Narvi in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
How to Repair the Great Forge of Narvi
The Great Forge of Narvi is located in the back of the iconic Elven Quarters in The Western Halls of Moria and is surrounded by several Orc Camps. It’s advisable that players carry enough resources and are prepared for combat in case they encounter any Goblin Men or Cave Bears. As a precautionary measure, players should carry the following items when heading to the Great Forge:
- Wood Scraps
- Iron Ingots
- Sword
- Shield
- Food
When players reach The Great Forge, they’ll notice that this gigantic furnace is missing three crucial components, all of which are prominently highlighted. To restore the Great Forge of Narvi to its former glory, players need to find and replace the following parts:
- Crank
- Gear
- Pipe
The Replacement Crank and Gear are relatively easier to find since they’re situated quite close to the Forge itself.
Players can spot the replacement crank on the ground to the right of the Forge, press the E key to pick it up, and insert it in the highlighted slot. The replacement gear can be found lying on the ground to the left of the Forge. Players can carry it up the stairs and fix it by pressing the E key.
The exact locations may vary in different playthroughs due to the procedurally generated nature of the game.
The third missing part is a bit more complex. The replacement pipe may be located on the ground near the entrance of the hall, often guarded by a small orc camp. Players have to carry this pipe all the way back to the Forge and try inserting it in the respective slot. Unfortunately, the right-hand staircase of the Forge is broken. As players cannot climb or jump with any heavy objects in hand, they need to find another way to get up there.
The first approach would be to try throwing the replacement pipe by aiming for the highlighted slot and pressing the R key. Alternatively, players can try building multiple wooden platforms using Wood Scraps by pressing V on their keyboard. This makes it easier for players to carry the pipe and replace it successfully.
If players are unable to find any of the missing parts, they can craft the replacements themselves using Iron Ingots. The crafting recipes can be obtained by interacting with the highlighted spaces.
Once players have replaced all three pieces of the Great Forge of Narvi and activated it, they will be ambushed by a horde of enemies. Players should ready themselves for combat or make a swift retreat back to their base camp as quickly as possible.
