Madden NFL 25 is becoming completely free for any gamers interested in taking the premier American football sim for a spin. However, while the latest entry in the popular annual sports franchise gives newcomers a chance to try out Madden NFL 25's various new gameplay features, the window of opportunity is finite, and rather short - ending after Sunday, September 8.
Officially launching last month, on August 16, Madden NFL 25 marks the 36th installment in the long-running series. The new iteration of Madden boasts a bevy of new and revamped features and modes, including things like BOOM Tech, a physics-informed tackling system which builds upon the FieldSENSE feature introduced in Madden NFL 23, a revamped Ball Carrier system, Franchise Mode, and more. Although the recently released title has plenty of new or updated features, the almost-usual numerous technical issues that accompany the annual release have led Madden NFL 25 to receive mixed reviews on Steam.

Developer EA Sports is offering gamers and NFL fans the chance to play Madden NFL 25 from September 5 through September 8, coinciding with the weekend kicking off the NFL's 2024 season. While brief, the handful of free play days can allow fans to try out and get the hang of all the updated mechanics and features, including new ones like Madden NFL 25's multiple passing styles. An additional condition regarding the free-play days for Madden NFL 25 is that it seems to only be available only on Xbox or PlayStation platforms, meaning PC players may be out of luck.
Although it has had some issues in its first few weeks, EA has already released a September 2024 Madden NFL 25 update patch a few days ago, which aims to remedy several issues pointed out by its vocal player base. Playbooks have been updated, particularly with the Philadelphia Eagles, a revamped passing mechanic, Switch Stick delay, and a variety of audio and visual updates to enhance the overall realism of the game. The patch, however, only adds cameras to the celebration cutscene for the Super Bowl, an aspect of the game Madden fans aren't happy with.
Free Football for All - For a While
Madden NFL 25 may only be free for this weekend, but gamers can get their hands on another football title completely free right now, just not the same kind of football. The Epic Games Store is currently offering Football Manager 2024 for free, as well as Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts. With the 2024 NFL season officially underway, it's safe to say plenty of people will be taking advantage of Madden NFL 25's free weekend.
