- Use items such as bottles, lamps, or coins to throw. This will distract the enemy, allowing players to sneak behind them.
- When Enzo sneaks behind a person, he can either strangle or perform a stealth kill on them. Both will down the enemy, but strangling takes more time than a knife kill, meaning there's more room to get caught by a guarding enemy. However, keep in mind that a stealth kill will consume knife durability, so there are fewer opportunities for Enzo to use his knife.
- After an enemy is downed, hide it from sight, either put them down in a secluded place, or hide them inside a stash, which is a blue crate box. If a fallen enemy is found by another person, they will notice something is wrong and actively seek the infiltrator.

While exploring the world, players may come across some Saint statues. Picking these up will grant Enzo a Charm that has various effects. To equip a Charm, go to the menu, then head to the Charms tab. There are two types of Charms to use: medallions and beads. Enzo can only wear one medallion, but up to four beads. To unlock more bead slots, head to Pasquale's shop and spend Dinari to open them.

Medallions have effects like granting a period of invulnerability when close to death, giving Enzo the chance to one-shot an enemy, granting the chance to dodge a bullet, and so on. Meanwhile, beads have lesser effects, but can still greatly help. For example, it can increase ammo capacity, bandage capacity, reload or healing speed, and so on.
Know Your Resources

In combat, Enzo will have limited resources, whether it's bandages, ammo, bombs, whetstone, or coins. It's not only because Enzo has a limited capacity, but also because these resources aren't abundant in general. Therefore, players need to know how to manage their resources, to not run out in tight situations.
For example, Enzo can only carry two bandages (three with a certain Charm), so when players have max bandages and come across one, it's a good idea to heal before picking it up. This way, Enzo will enter the next part of the combat with full health and maximum bandage. Likewise, players should also remember to utilize bombs to scare the enemy, coins to distract them, and whetstones to sharpen the knife and restore its durability.
Enzo should also use his surroundings properly, knowing where to hide and when to reload. For instance, if players stand from their hiding spot to shoot, they don't need to press the crouch button after releasing the aim button, as Enzo will hide right after aiming. Enzo can also perform a blind shot by shooting while hiding, although this has poor accuracy.

For example, the game has three difficulties, and if combat proves to be too easy or too hard, players can change the difficulty to their liking. Other gameplay features, like driving, can also be customized. Those who enjoy more realistic driving can turn on a gear-shifting mechanic and turn off the drive assistance, while gamers who prefer to get to the point can turn these off and enable drive skip mode to auto fast-travel in the main mission.

What To Do After Completing The Story
There are many things to collect in Mafia: The Old Country, like Charms, Mystery Fox, Saint cards, newspapers, and photography spots. Some of these are only available in specific chapters, while some others can be found when exploring the world freely.
For that, after completing the main quest, players can go to Chapter Select from the main menu, then choose Explore. This will open the game with Enzo freely roaming around the world, giving players the liberty to collect what they missed and to visit spots they didn't during the main quest.

When first visiting Pasquale's shop, players may learn about Trinacria, a token that is said to be a valuable item. Players can find this item all over the world, and it's also marked on the places that players have visited. Unlike most other collectibles, Trinacria is useful as it can be sold for 100 Dinari each at Pasquale's store. For that, it's a good idea to collect them whenever they show up on the map.
Apart from Trinacria, players can also collect money by looting bodies, stashing bodies, or prying open some boxes.
