Based on the recent financial results for Hasbro in the third quarter of 2025, Magic: The Gathering has been a massive contributor to the brand's growth, especially with sales from the Edge of Eternities set. While this is great news for in-multiverse sets, considering the concern about Universes Beyond taking over, Magic: The Gathering has had a lot of success with crossovers, too. Not all players are happy about this direction, and it's something that may show over the next few years, but the train for MTG collabs is on track to deliver yet another crossover with one of the most viral IPs of this year.

With Magic: The Gathering's Avatar set capping the year in November, and with 2026 being already filled to the brim with releases, it's plausible that this new crossover will come in a different form - a Secret Lair drop and/or a Commander deck. This is because Netflix and Hasbro recently shared their collaboration for KPop Demon Hunters toys and other products, with the first being Monopoly Deal: KPop Demon Hunters. No explicit mention of MTG was made, but considering Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro's approach, this is basically guaranteed for a few reasons:

  • Hasbro and Mattel are both toy licensees for KPop Demon Hunters, with Mattel overseeing production of action figures, dolls, and more, whereas Hasbro will deliver "immersive new ways to engage through play."
  • Hasbro's news release specifically states that the company will be "leveraging the strength of its iconic portfolio—including HASBRO GAMES, WIZARDS OF THE COAST, NERF, and FURBY—introducing a range of engaging collaborations designed to delight fans of all ages," which could mean MTG or DnD products due to Wizards of the Coast being mentioned.
  • Magic: The Gathering's Furby crossover, as well as that of Play-Doh, reinforces the idea that Hasbro will use its IPs or licenses to make new cards, so KPop Demon Hunters fits the bill for a Secret Lair drop.
  • KPop Demon Hunters' HUNTR/X and other characters could be perfect for a Secret Lair drop dedicated to each of them, to the main trio as a whole, the antagonists, or even a Commander deck comprehensive of all these options.

Considering all this, it seems only a logical progression for Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to make MTG products themed after KPop Demon Hunters.

Magic: The Gathering’s New Crossover May Seem Like Its Strangest Yet, But It Actually Fits Like a Glove

Wizards of the Coast has just announced a new Magic: The Gathering collab with a dedicated Secret Lair drop, and while odd, it fits perfectly.

Other MTG cards could be dedicated to the Honmoon, the various original songs in KPop Demon Hunters, and even events from the movie.

MTG x KPop Demon Hunters is a Matter of When Rather Than If

The reason an MTG Secret Lair drop feels perfect for this type of collaboration is that it allows Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to work on it more pressingly, as opposed to a full-fledged set or multiple Commander products. The movie is also not so vast in terms of lore and characters to justify bigger crossovers, like, for example, the upcoming Avatar set in November.

With the idea that a KPop Demon Hunters collab with MTG is inevitable after Hasbro's recent announcement, it's worth mentioning that this is likely to happen sooner rather than later in order to match the viral phenomenon that was Netflix's movie. Nothing has been officially announced just yet, but with the collaboration between Netflix and Hasbro just being made public, it seems reasonable to expect possible news in early 2026. MTG's PlayStation Secret Lair Superdrop is almost here, so fans will have to wait.
