Managing the needs of settlers is the main job of all players diving into Manor Lords. From building burgage plots to house them to finding multiple sources of food to keep them fed and, eventually, finding ways to keep them entertained, it’s all part of the lord’s job description.

Each time a burgage plot is leveled up, the families within start demanding more stuff to keep them happy. The Lack of Entertainment issue starts cropping up after players upgrade a burgage plot to level 3, and the family residing there starts demanding better living conditions and something to do other than mindless work. Here’s how to resolve it.

How to Fix Lack of Entertainment in Manor Lords

Lack of Entertainment can be fixed by building a Tavern (Construction > Residential) in a settlement, assigning a family to work there, and ensuring a steady source of Ale that can be served to the townsfolk. Like Taxation, settlers will not be happy with a lack of entertainment, but only families living in level 3 Burgage plots will contribute to the Negative Approval Rating.

The longer villagers complaining about a lack of entertainment go without Ale, the more they’ll bring down your Approval Rating.

Only one Tavern needs to be built per settlement. Make sure it is placed somewhere near the burgage plots with the highest level so that the villagers who are in dire need of a pint don’t need to travel far.

How to Get & Use Ale in Manor Lords

Making your own ale is a process that requires a lot of investment before it bears fruit. Here’s what players need to do:

  1. Start a Barley farm.
  2. Build a Malthouse (Construction > Industry) near the farm. Assign a worker to the Malthouse to convert 1 Barley into 1 Malt.
  3. Convert a level 2 Burgage Plot with a backyard extension into a Brewery. The resident family will convert 1 Malt into 1 Ale.
  4. Build a Tavern and assign a family to work there. These workers will take the Ale from the Brewery or the Granary (if it’s stored there) and transfer it to the Tavern.

A backyard extension appears as a smaller house icon when placing the boundaries for a burgage plot. Existing burgage plots cannot get backyard extensions.

The family working the Brewery and the Tavern will not be the same. This means players must always dedicate at least four workers to keep Ale in production. One at the farm, one at the Malthouse, one at the Brewery, and one at the Tavern.

The family working at the Brewery cannot be assigned to any other job.

Alternatively, players can also import Ale via traders. It’ll cost a fair amount of cash, but if Barley production is not on the cards because of low soil fertility, this might be the only option until players conquer new regions and unlock more farmable plots of land.
