One of the best quality-of-life features in Manor Lords is that it lets players know which areas in their settlements are not working as intended and require immediate attention. These can range from unhappy settlers to empty workplaces to a lack of entertainment, and so on.
One of the notifications that can be confusing to understand is the ‘Generic Storage Full’ message. The message's wording is unclear and doesn’t explain what must be done to make it disappear. Here’s what players need to do in order to resolve it.

Vegetable Gardens are excellent sources of food in the early stages of a campaign in Manor Lords.
What is Generic Storage in Manor Lords?
Generic Storage is a common term used for items stored in a building. Let’s take a Mining Pit as an example. The job of Mining Pit workers is to mine iron deposits to get ore. Ore cannot be left out in the open to the elements (that’s how you get unsheltered supplies); it needs to be stored somewhere.
Mining Pits - and every other production facility - have a limited space to store items they produce, called Generic Storage. When this storage is filled to the brim, a notification pops up in the UI informing players of 'Generic Storage Full.'
How to Fix ‘Generic Storage Full’ Notification in Manor Lords
Click on the 'Generic Storage Full' notification to center the screen on the building triggering the message. Open the building menu to confirm that it is filled to capacity. The solution is to build a Storehouse and assign a family to work there. A Storehouse worker’s job is to prevent this issue from being triggered by constantly taking items from production facilities and storing them inside the Storehouse for safekeeping. By default, they’ll prioritize buildings that are near capacity over the ones that have space to spare.
To reiterate, four conditions need to be met to resolve the Generic Storage Full error message. Make sure the following are true:
- There is a Storehouse nearby.
- There is storage space inside the Storehouse.
- A family is assigned to work there.
- Permissions are set to allow the item to be stored inside.
Players can check Storehouse permissions by opening the context menu, going to Advanced, and looking at the checkmarks. If an item is checkmarked, it’ll be allowed inside. If not, the workers won’t bring it to the Storehouse.
Generic Storage Full error can also occur when the Storehouse is filled to capacity. If this happens, either build a second Storehouse or upgrade the existing one to increase storage space.
What Happens if ‘Generic Storage Full’ is Ignored?
If players don’t resolve the Generic Storage Full issue right away, families working at the building will stagger or stop production. Every time there is an overflow, they’ll carry the surplus to the Storehouse. This won’t be done in batches, meaning if a Generic Storage’s capacity is 50, the workers will wait until it gets to 51, and then they’ll carry 1 item and bring it to a Storehouse. Then, they’ll return to production, restart the process to get one more item, stop, and transfer that single item to the Storehouse. Production won’t stop, per se, but it will become so horribly inefficient and useless.
