Managing the needs of the settlers who call the lord’s domain their home is one of the biggest responsibilities players take up in Manor Lords. In young settlements, getting food and shelter are the biggest concerns of the populace. Still, as fortunes rise and amenities become more readily available, the villagers' needs evolve as well.

One of the concerns that pop up when players start upgrading burgage plots is the need for more than one type of clothing stall. Shoes, Cloaks, and Clothes are rarer than Linen, Leather, and Yarn, but obtaining these items is easier than it looks. Here’s what players need to do to get shoes.

How to Make Shoes in Manor Lords

Shoes in Manor Lords are made at the Cobbler’s Workshop (backyard extension) using Leather.

How to Get Leather

Leather can be crafted in one of three ways:

  1. A Tannery (4 Timber) can convert hides to Leather. Hides (and meat) can be obtained by building a hunting camp near animals.
  2. Building the Goat Shed backyard extension (25 Regional Wealth) provides the settlement with a steady supply of hides.
  3. Hides can be imported via the Trading Post for a significant markup. This method is only recommended if players plan to export shoes afterward to make a profit.

How to Build A Cobbler’s Workshop

A Cobbler’s Workshop is a backyard extension that can be built on level 2 burgage plots for 5 Regional Wealth and 5 Planks. Select the gear icon on the burgage plot’s context menu and click the shoe icon to start construction. Backyard extensions can only be created during the initial placement of a burgage plot by extending the plot’s borders. Unlike a Vegetable Garden or an Apple Orchard, the size of the Backyard extension does not affect the yield of the Cobbler’s Workshop.

The families living in a Cobbler’s Workshop are tagged as artisans. Artisans cannot work jobs other than their specialization; they’ll stay at the workshop and produce Shoes. Even if no Leather is available and work halts, they will not return to the pool of unassigned workers.

Backyard extensions cannot be added to existing burgage plots.

How to Use Shoes in Manor Lords

Shoes serve two main purposes:

  1. Fulfilling clothing supply requirements for families in level 2 and 3 burgage plots. Every time a Burgage plot is leveled up, the requirements of the residents in those plots go up as well. One of these requirements is that a Clothing Stall in the marketplace sells one of the following clothing types: Shoes, Cloaks, or Clothes.
  2. Exporting to increase Regional Wealth. Players can trade away shoes at a decent rate via the Trading Post. This course of action is only recommended if the surplus is substantial.
