Raising a powerful army in Manor Lords is one of the most critical duties for defending your village from raids or invasions by other rulers. You can recruit different types of armies: militia, mercenaries, and Retinue.
Among these options, the Retinue is, without a doubt, the finest choice in terms of combat performance and efficiency for defeating enemies. Retinues are skilled soldiers who wield shields and swords and can defeat opponents despite their small numbers.
Manor Lords: How to Fix Trade Rule Set to No Trade
Players looking to trade goods in Manor Lords will encounter the 'No Trade' issue at the Trading Post. Here's how to fix it.
How to Recruit Retinue
Retinue units can be recruited only after you have built a Manor in your settlement. A Manor can be built after reaching the Small Village settlement level and will require you to spend 5 Timber, 20 Planks, and 15 Stone. Once the Manor has been built, five retinues will be automatically added to your troops.
If you need more than five in your army, you can add more retinue from the Customization menu. To do that, head over to the Army menu from the bottom of your screen, click on Retinue units, and click on the Customize Retinue menu. From here, click the Recruit Men-At-Arms button to recruit a new retinue. Each retinue unit will cost you 50 Treasury Units, which can be earned by collecting taxes from the residents of your settlement.
Initially, you can have 12 retinue units in your army at once. However, you can increase this limit by building the Garrison Tower inside your manor. A Garrison Tower will cost 10 Timber, 15 Planks, and 10 Stones. However, remember that you can only build one Garrison Tower in a manor. To further increase your retinue limit, you will have to build more manors in other regions under your rule and construct your Garrison Towers in those manor buildings.
How to Customize and Upgrade Retinue
Unlike the Militia, the Retinue units can be customized as you like. To customize the Retinue units, head to the Customization Menu by clicking the brush icon beside the rally button. Here, you can customize each retinue’s weapons, body armor, shield, and helmet. Although this customization doesn’t change any of these fierce fighters' stats, it gives you control over how intimidating your troops can look on the battlefield. You can also change the name of each Retinue as you like.
The most important option in the Customization menu is upgrading the armor of your retinue units. From the Armor upgrades menu, you can choose Upgrade Armor (Local), which will upgrade your retinue's armor from the locally made armor, for the reasonable price of 17 Treasury units. However, you must first build an Armorer’s Workshop in your village to use this. You can also upgrade the armor by importing new armor, but this will cost you double (34 Treasury units) as opposed to sourcing it from the local armorer.
