Previously, MapleStory Worlds was solely available in South Korea with a global launch date set for the second half of 2024. Now, The Best War Games can exclusively confirm that MapleStory Worlds will soft launch in North and South America on October 16 for PC, Android, and iOS.
MapleStory has been available since 2003 and, in that time, has seen several releases like MapleStory 2, MapleStory DS, MapleStory M, MapleStory: Reboot, MapleStory 3DS, and Pocket MapleStory. Its social and community elements, as an MMORPG, have been important since day one, and MapleStory Worlds is a way to give the power of those elements back to players and creators, leveraging everything the IP has amassed over the years.
In Nexon's MapleStory Worlds, players will be able to join together to create and play in developer-made and user-generated Worlds. Players will be able to leverage over 30 million assets in MapleStory Worlds to create these worlds, either through simple drag-and-drop tools or advanced Lua Scripting. Players are not limited to the 2D or MMORPG-oriented gameplay of MapleStory either; players will be able to make a World befitting "any game genre." Beyond Worlds, creators can also design in-world and avatar items, setting their own revenue models in the process, with players able to purchase these items.
Players can customize these avatars with the various MapleStory assets (or user-generated content) with hundreds of options including facial features, hair colors, hairstyles, clothing options, accessories, and more. Furthermore, Nexon bills MapleStory Worlds as a "one-of-a-kind experience" that supports a large number of players, including various social features like friend lists, text chat, chat rooms, and more.
With this soft launch, MapleStory Worlds will officially be available in North America, South America, and South Korea come October 16. For those in other regions of the world, the platform will be available in the future, so it's best to keep your ears pressed to the ground for any news.
