The Marathon closed Alpha playtest will take place from April 23–May 4, 2025. Bungie notes that this will be a 'fairly small playtest,' noting that while many players will not get to join this time, there will be bigger playtests coming in the near future. According to Bungie, this playtest will mainly focus on testing technical capabilities and gathering important feedback.

The information on the Marathon Alpha playtest on Bungie.net states that only players that are 18+ and in North America will be eligible.
