Summary
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe received an update, fixing issues with the 3DS Music Park course in Time Trials.
- The new update, Version 3.0.5, is likely the final one before the release of Mario Kart World on June 5.
- Mario Kart World promises an open-world format and Free Roam mode.
While gamers are waiting for Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2, its immediate predecessor, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, is getting yet another update on the original Switch. Mario Kart 8 was released on the Wii U back in 2014, with an updated Deluxe version launching on the Switch three years later. Both iterations of Mario Kart 8 are the highest-selling games on their respective platforms and are considered to be the high mark of the popular Mario Kart racing franchise that stretches all the way back to the days of the Super Nintendo.
This could change once Mario Kart World is released as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title on June 5, but for now Nintendo is still smoothing out some of the technical issues players have had with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe through downloadable update patches. Such an update was released earlier this month, fixing reported problems with the 3DS Music Park in Time Trials and the classic N64 Rainbow Road course.
Rumor: Mario Kart Tour Could Be Getting New Content
Mario Kart Tour could be getting its first new content in more than a year, with the release of Mario Kart World not far on the horizon.
Even though Mario Kart World is only weeks away at this point, Nintendo has still released another corrective update patch for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch. Titled Version 3.0.5, this newest patch was launched on May 21 and only has one major fix. Before, if a player created ghost save data for Mario Kart 8's 3DS Music Park after fulfilling certain conditions for the Time Trials, the data could not be reuploaded.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Ver. 3.0.5 Update Patch Notes
General
- Fixed issue where, when the player creates ghost data for "3DS Music Park" after fulfilling particular conditions for the Time Trials, the data could not be uploaded.
This is probably the final Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update before Mario Kart World launches on June 5, but any fans still playing the latest Mario Kart game in preparation for the mascot racing franchise’s Switch 2 debut will likely appreciate any efforts to make the hit game even better. Its past updates have helped Mario Kart 8 Deluxe endure as one of the Switch’s most popular games during the long wait for Mario Kart World, which is looking to build upon the groundwork established by its predecessor with a few new twists.
This includes a new open-world format that connects every Mario Kart World together and a special Free Roam mode that will let players explore the game’s colorful environments however they see fit. While Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a tough act to follow, Mario Kart World could prove to be an evolution for the series for years to come, especially if Nintendo continues to update and refine it as it did with the previous installment.
