The third track in the Mushroom Cup Grand Prix in Mario Kart World, Whistlestop Summit, is a course with a lot of curvy roads and some significant shortcuts. Whistlestop Summit also features a grindable railroad throughout much of the track, which allows players to cut tight corners and build boost at the same time.

How To Unlock Costumes In Mario Kart World

You can get costumes and skins in Mario Kart World either by being victim to a Kamek item or by looking for particular food items in the world.

To get through many shortcuts in the game, you must have some kind of boost item in hand, like a Dash Mushroom or Golden Mushroom. To use every Whistlestop Summit shortcut, Mario Kart World players will also need to find and use a Feather to jump over a gap about halfway through the course.

Shortcut #1: Grind The Railroad To The Left Of Start

Mario Kart World Whistlestop Summit Shortcuts Shortcut 1

At the very start of Whistlestop Summit, Mario Kart World players will see a railroad to the left of the course. There are several points in the course where it is advantageous to grind the railroad instead of taking the road, and this first shortcut in Whistlestop Summit is one such spot.

If you start on the center or right side of the starting pack, you'll find it difficult to get to this shortcut on the first lap, as there is only a small gap to enter the railroad. Players who start the race on the left side can enter this shortcut immediately, but even in later laps, it serves as a way to cut a second or two on the first corner.

Perform frontflip tricks to gain a small forward boost while grinding, but be careful not to fly off the rail.

Shortcut #2: Boost Through The Corner On The Third Turn

On the third turn in the race, just before the big loop-de-loop in the top right of the course, the road will veer right around a small grassy area separated by a rocky plinth.

If you have a boost item, you can cut this corner and propel yourself through this grassy area. Be careful doing this, though, as the track sharply veers to the left immediately after you get back on the road.

Shortcut #3: Feather Jump To Skip The Second U-Turn

Mario Kart World Whistlestop Summit Shortcuts Shortcut 3

Immedately after the second shortcut, the track loops back on itself and heads southward. The track wraps around a chasm, which is wide enough that you cannot Charge Jump over it to cut the corner.

However, if you have a Feather item, you can use it while drifting sharply to the left to cut a significant portion of the top-right most corner.

This is a very tricky shortcut to pull off in Mario Kart World, especially because it requires a specific item, but also because your aim must be precise to make the gap.

Shortcut #4: Grind Rails For Easy Boosts In The Last Half Of The Course

Mario Kart World Whistlestop Summit Shortcuts Shortcut 4

After the loop-de-loop with the second and third shortcuts, the track will head south and intertwine with the railroad. Just like at the start of the course, you can drive onto this railroad to immediately begin grinding it, building boost, and avoiding having to drift and maneuver around other racers.

Jump off the railroad before it converges back with the track to trigger your boost and begin drifting around the final corner. If you pull off the timing right, you will continuously boost through to the end of the course.
