As the big first-party launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World has received a lot of attention for its innovations made to the racing series. Among the new features, the game added Free Roam and Knockout Tour modes, providing players with alternatives to classics like Grand Prix. Even Grand Prix was reworked, with players now traveling to the courses at the start of a race. With numerous players checking out the game and its new mechanics, many clips have been shared online.
Mario Kart World Chart Reveals Racer and Vehicle Stats
A Mario Kart World player shares an interesting chart, and reveals a series of statistics about the racers and their vehicles.
As spotted by Dexerto, one of these clips came from a Reddit user known as TheIronicTea and involved the infamous Blue Shell in Mario Kart World. The clip took place on the Bowser’s Castle course as the player was in the lead using Stingby. As TheIronicTea was about to head up a boost ramp, they received the notification that a Blue Shell was tracking them. Unfortunately, the item detonated on the player just before they reached the top of the ramp. This resulted in them losing all their momentum. The situation was worsened by the steep incline, causing the kart to be unable to make forward progress. Eventually, the racer decided to go into reverse, allowing them to run over a boost pad and continue through the course. However, when all was said and done, they had dropped to 12th position.
Mario Kart World Player Struggles to Recover After Being Hit by Blue Shell
This Blue Shell clip caught the attention of many fans on the Mario Kart subreddit. So far, several hundred users have upvoted the post, commenting on TheIronicTea’s misfortune. While the item is designed to keep first-place drivers from gaining too much of a lead in a race, some players think it can be unfair. It is worth noting that Mario Kart World does have several ways of countering Blue Shells. Specifically, players can use a carefully timed Mushroom to dodge the explosion, and the Super Horn can destroy it.
It will be interesting to see what other clips are shared with the community in the weeks ahead as players discover more techniques. Following the launch of the Switch 2, Mario Kart World was the best-selling game for the new console. While Nintendo has more Switch 2 exclusive games on the horizon, including Donkey Kong Bananza, the online component to Mario Kart World likely means players will continue to play the racing game for the foreseeable future.
