A Mario Kart fan has noticed an exciting new feature coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 title Mario Kart World, and it’s a real game-changer to assist in the series' high-octane races. Mario Kart World is scheduled to release on June 5, 2025, and notably adds open-world exploration and off-roading elements to the kart racing series that’s been a staple in the genre since its Super Mario Kart debut in 1992.

Mario Kart World has been announced as a launch title for Nintendo’s successor console, joining a host of other confirmed games for the Nintendo Switch 2. Thanks to the Japanese publisher’s exciting Direct aired at the start of the month, other Nintendo titles, such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, and Donkey Kong Bananza, were added to the line-up, alongside FromSoftware’s anticipated new IP, T he Duskbloods.

Mario Kart World Makes Good on MK8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass Oversights

Among Mario Kart World's confirmed tracks are several additions that make up for the missed opportunities in MK 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass.

Posted on Reddit by N1ckSketch, a low-quality video was shared on the Mario Kart subreddit showcasing a race from Mario Kart World. The five-second clip highlighted a new feature that allows racers to adjust the camera angle mid-race, which joins several other new features coming to the racer, like the Mario Kart World Charge Jump and Rewind abilities. Being able to adjust the camera angle in this sense while racing is a first for the series, as past titles have only allowed players to look backward. However, Mario Kart World allows vertical and horizontal camera adjustments, so players can check their surroundings while keeping an eye forward.

Mario Kart World Adds New Camera Angle Adjust Feature

Redditors hoped this new feature would stop the camera from clipping into walls and ceilings, and most were surprised this detail hadn’t been mentioned until now. Additionally, most Mario Kart veterans rejoiced at being able to use peripheral vision during races, highlighting that switching the camera angle to a top view would allow racers to avoid items more easily. Despite applauding the beneficial camera angle feature, Mario Kart World fans are still unhappy with the game’s price tag, expressing that the $80 cost is too high.

Adding to the jam-packed list of new features, courses, and abilities coming to the new racer, Mario Kart World teased the return of a beloved guest character. During a special Direct, showcasing the upcoming title’s gameplay, fans noticed a new R.O.B. Bike, honoring the Mario Kart DS character of the same name from the NES era. Even though R.O.B. Has only returned in part (mechanical parts, that is) through a new vehicle, some are still hopeful this signals the robot’s return as a playable character.
