Mario Kart World players have discovered a glitch that lets racers fly indefinitely. The odd discovery will likely be patched out of the game in time, but for the moment, Mario Kart World players can try it out for themselves.
Mario Kart World launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, and despite the higher price tag, most players and reviewers seem to be satisfied with it. The game shook up the Mario Kart formula by adding more racers per match and introducing a new free roam mode exclusive to Mario Kart World that lets players explore the surrounding places freely with others.
Mario Kart World Players May Be Making the Game Harder and Not Even Realizing It
Some Mario Kart World players could be doing something that makes the game harder without knowing that they are sabotaging themselves.
Now, a Mario Kart World player has discovered a glitch that lets the racer take to the sky and fly indefinitely. The detail was shared by Reddit user Icy-ConcentrationC, who demonstrated the glitch. In the video, they boost towards a ramp, then begin repeatedly flipping their kart as it soars into the air. With the kart pointing right at the sky, they then trigger a Mario Kart World feather. As the camera levels out, it becomes clear that the player is now floating through the air instead of descending as they should have. The short video concludes with them exploring the surrounding areas as Rosalina floats through the sky in her kart.
Mario Kart World Flying Glitch Replication
For those who want to replicate the glitch, they'll need to set up their racer in advance with a mushroom in the first slot and a feather in the second. From there, players need to find a ramp, and zip up the ramp by engaging the mushroom. Start flipping the kart with the R shoulder button. Once the kart looks like the driver is pointing it right at the sky, the feather needs to be triggered in order to engage the glitch. Getting the timing right may take some effort, but the time rewind feature in Mario Kart World could be helpful in practicing it. Players should also be aware that controlling the direction of the kart isn't possible once they're airborne, so it will essentially drift in whatever direction it started the jump in once it reaches the sky.
Mario Kart World players seem to be mostly amused by the presence of this glitch, especially since Rosalina was chosen to demonstrate it. Since Rosalina can naturally float when outside of her kart, it makes it seem like she's just using her own abilities to make her kart fly. Others have refuted the OP's claim that the game is "broken," pointing out that the game largely plays flawlessly and that triggering a glitch through a precise set of inputs like this one doesn't discredit the rest of the game. Thankfully, it doesn't seem like this trick is a useful exploit to win matches, so players will likely just have fun tinkering with it while it lasts.
