While playing Mario Kart World, a couple of players discovered that some tracks can be completed without accelerating. While racing this way in Mario Kart World is probably not the best strategy for winning online matches, the discovery highlights the different ways that players can propel their vehicles.

As one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World has unsurprisingly become incredibly popular on the platform. The game sets itself apart from its predecessor, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, by featuring an interconnected open world that lets players drive between courses. While the routes connecting the world have been controversial, many players have enjoyed the game's various tracks, which feature remakes of classics and brand-new additions.

Mario Kart World Players Show Off No Acceleration Lap Routes

Recently, a couple of players revealed that it was possible to complete a lap on some of Mario Kart World’s tracks without accelerating. Specifically, Reddit user ZatherDaFox discovered a viable route on Acorn Heights that allowed them to complete a lap in approximately 44 seconds. Impressively, they revealed that three laps could be completed without accelerating if the mushrooms were utilized at the right times. In addition to ZatherDaFox, Reddit user Subspace79 recently shared no acceleration laps on Dry Bones Burnout and Koopa Troopa Beach. In each of these instances, the player utilized their starting mushrooms from Time Trials in Mario Kart World, along with boost pads, tricks, and coins, to make it to the finish line.

It is worth noting that these are only three of the potential courses where a lap can be completed without accelerating. In fact, Subspace79 has shown that the challenge can be completed on many other tracks and has shared videos of their attempts on Reddit. Just a few of the other Mario Kart World courses where this is possible include Faraway Oasis, Sky High Sundae, and Wario Stadium. Unsurprisingly, many users on Reddit were impressed with the routes that Subspace79 and ZatherDaFox came up with to make it to the finish without pressing the A button.

It will be interesting to see what other challenges players come up with in the game. In addition to introducing new game modes, Mario Kart World features new driving mechanics to keep races feeling fresh. Things like rail riding and driving on walls have opened up more potential pathways to be taken advantage of. Hopefully, these will help keep the existing content fresh until new DLC arrives sometime in the future.
