How to Save
In order to manually save in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, gamers must open the Main Menu by pressing the + button. Then, they must select the Save option and OK once the confirmation prompt appears. Super Mario Bros. Wonder allows its players to save the game at nearly any time; as long as they've finished a course, they'll be able to save.
The game will also auto-save on several occasions, and, unlike various other games, manually saving does not create a separate save file. When players load up the game, they'll always return to the last save point, regardless if it was a manual save or not.
Players should always manually save the game before quitting, and to be safe, they should also do it from time to time, even if they're going to continue playing. This prevents unfortunate accidents from happening, such as the Switch unexpectedly turning off or the game having a sudden crash.
Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online members should back up their saves on the cloud. They can do this by exiting the game, selecting Options on the Super Mario Bros. Wonder app on the home screen, and then opening the Save Data Cloud section and choosing their user.
How to Load
Once players have started a Super Mario Bros. Wonder save file, it'll be added to their user's Save Data in the title screen. They'll be able to load it back up simply by selecting the right user and returning the game.
The Super Mario Bros. Wonder save data will automatically be overwritten whenever a new save or autosave is made. This means that gamers can't return to an older save in the same file.
Players who would like to start over can delete their entire Super Mario Bros. Wonder save data by pressing the + button while hovering over their user's save file.
