Supposed footage and screenshots of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra have been leaked online, providing Marvel fans with a brief glimpse into what the upcoming action-adventure game may have in store for them. Developer Skydance New Media and publisher Plaion have kept a pretty tight lid on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra since announcing it nearly four years ago, adding some additional intrigue to the new leaks.
The upcoming game will allow players to take control of four different Marvel characters: the Steve Rogers version of Captain America, the Azzuri version of Black Panther, Wakandan Spy Network leader Nanali, and Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones. Originally announced in October 2021, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been hit with delays that have bumped its release off the 2025 holiday season schedule and into 2026.
With EA's Black Panther Game Scrapped, Marvel 1943 Can Give Its Best Concept a Second Chance at Life
Although EA's Black Panther game may have been scrapped, there is a ton of potential for Marvel 1943 to take its concepts to the next level.
Leaked Footage Shows Off Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra's Gameplay
While fans will have to wait a little longer than originally anticipated, a new leak shows what is purported to be some early development footage of the game. The clip is brief, at just 15 seconds long, but it shows off the combative acrobatics of Marvel hero Black Panther as he battles against four soldiers armed with rifles in a dingy-looking bar setting. Black Panther first appears in a doorway, fighting a single soldier, taking him out with a combo that ends in a front-flipping kick. However, his unnatural agility is put on display even more so after he enters the room, as he displays incredible feats like leaping over the bar and across the room in a single bound to attack another soldier. While there have been a couple of trailers for the game, neither has shown off any actual gameplay, so if legitimate, this leak provides a first look at player-controlled action.
In addition to the trailer, multiple supposed images of the game have surfaced, which were allegedly shared by a member of the development team, according to MP1st. These images appear much more polished than the gameplay video, suggesting that they may have been captured during a later stage of development, and they show off many scenes of the game's World War 2-era setting, including a well-lit underground railway tunnel, a lavishly decorated hallway, and several outdoor locations. Like in the video, the images are all shared from a perspective that follows Black Panther, leaving some suspense regarding the rest of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra's ensemble cast.
Following the release delay, 2026 could be a stacked year for Marvel games. While no other titles in the franchise have been announced for 2026 so far, there are plenty of Marvel projects in development at various studios, including Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine, an untitled Blade game from Bethesda and Arkane Lyon, and EA's announced title starring Iron Man.
