Phase 6 of the MCU is the most secretive phase yet, with 4 confirmed movies, and plenty of others that are rumored to have a 2028 release date. With Phase 6 going heavy on the arrival and devastation led by Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, there is room in the aftermath for future movies to still take place in the Phase 6 slot.
Below, we've outlined all confirmed Phase 6 MCU movies and their release dates, along with movies that have been rumored for quite some time that could possibly see a release date within the next 2-3 years to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 6 slate.
MCU: Phase Five, Ranked (So Far)
Despite the MCU's momentum winding down, Phase Five still has a few tricks up its sleeve to impress those who can't get enough of Marvel's heroes.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The Fantastic Four Debuted in the MCU on July 24, 2025
- Directed by: Matt Shakman
- Release Date: July 24, 2025
The Fantastic Four: First Steps was the MCU movie that kicked off Phase 6 on July 24, 2025. This MCU movie has already released, and features the incredible family cast of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, each with unique and varying gifts that they use to defend Earth from its greatest threat: Galactus, a planet eater.
While The Fantastic Four: First Steps doesn't do too much to set up the future of The Fantastic Four in the mainline universe of the MCU, it does have a post-credits scene that directly ties into Avengers: Doomsday, which is actually teased in the final Phase 5 movie of the MCU, Thunderbolts* / *New Avengers, with the Fantastic Four's ship heading to 616's Earth.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man Returns to the MCU on July 31, 2026
- Directed by: Destin Daniel Cretton
- Release Date: July 31, 2026
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the 4th mainline movie from Tom Holland's Spider-Man, which brings the heroic web-swinging wall-crawler into the MCU through a joint venture of Sony and Disney. Spider-Man's been out of action in the MCU for 4 years at this point, and by the time Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters, it will have been almost 5 years without him.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day – 6 Suit Designs We'd Love to See
It's hard to beat Spider-Man's classic design, but there are some suits that deserve the MCU's live-action treatment for Brand New Day.
Details on Spider-Man: Brand New Day are kept a close secret, and with Tom Holland's name unconfirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, the movie might explain where Spidey is during the events of Avengers: Doomsday, and what awaits him. However, as a solo movie, fans can expect grand adventure and action thanks to a new direction from Destin Daniel Cretton, and the addition of The Punisher and The Hulk will certainly make for a memorable time.
Avengers: Doomsday
The Avengers and the X-Men Unite on December 18, 2026
- Directed by: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
- Release Date: December 18, 2026
Avengers: Doomsday is absolutely stacked, with an expansive cast that brings back a plethora of actors and their Marvel characters from the past. With icons like Patrick Stewart returning as Professor Xavier, and James Marsden as Cyclops, fans can also expect the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Robert Downey Jr. As Doctor Doom, instead of the deceased Tony Stark.
Avengers: Doomsday is another highly secret project in the MCU's Phase 6, and all we know is the majority of the cast and the release date of December 18, 2026. Everything else is pure speculation, and an assured treat for those who love the Avengers, the X-Men, and the cast and crew who are giving it their all.
Avengers: Secret Wars
The 40th MCU Movie Releases on December 17, 2027
- Directed by: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
- Release Date: December 17, 2027
Avengers: Secret Wars will be the 6th Avengers movie, and the 40th MCU movie. Scheduled for release a year after Avengers: Doomsday, it appears that this will be the concluding chapter in the Multiverse Saga and will have far more surprises than Avengers: Doomsday.
There is absolutely nothing known about Avengers: Secret Wars, and it's a complete mystery as to what the plot entails, and even what characters it entails. However, if it follows the trend of the comics, Avengers: Secret Wars could result in a reboot for the MCU, and perhaps Phase 7 will be a restarted Phase 1.
The following Marvel movies are pure speculation and rumors that have no credibility and have not been officially confirmed as true.
Black Panther 3
Ryan Coogler's Final Part of the Trilogy Could Release in 2028
- Directed by: Ryan Coogler
- Release Date: TBC
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was Ryan Coogler's 2nd MCU movie, and dealt with the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman and his character, King T'Challa. While this MCU movie concluded in 2022, it's been confirmed that Ryan Coogler is in the process of developing Black Panther 3, along with a part specifically for Denzel Washington.
The MCU has 3 untitled movies scheduled for 2028, and Black Panther 3 could very much be one of them. Whether it's to continue Shuri's story as the new Black Panther or to delve into the multiverse to bring a variant of T'Challa back into the lead, remains to be seen, but with Ryan Coogler at the helm, it's sure to be a doozy.
X-Men
The MCU's All-New X-Men Team Could Debut in 2028, from Jake Schreier
- Directed by: Jake Schreier
- Release Date: TBC
Rumors continue to spiral about the X-Men's debut in the MCU. While the classic live-action X-Men from the 20th Century Fox era are set to return with new suits in Avengers: Doomsday, and icons like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool feature in the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine, it's likely that the MCU's 616 universe will open with its own cast of mutants.
The X-Men movie in the MCU is confirmed, especially when Phase 7 will run into the Mutants Saga. However, will Phase 6 see any content for the X-Men before then? Jake Schreier, writer and director of Thunderbolts* is developing the movie, and a recent trademark for a Wolverine movie could mean that Mutants will be in the MCU before 2028.
Blade
Mahershala Ali's Blade Could Release in 2028, Beyond, or Never
- Directed by: TBC
- Release Date: TBC
Blade was announced as part of the MCU's slate way back in 2019, but constant script rewrites and development issues have made it so that Mahershala Ali's debut as the MCU's Blade remains a complete mystery as to when or if it will even happen.
Hopefully, Marvel is making confident strides with the Blade script that Ali is happy with, as the Daywalker deserves a great movie in the MCU, especially if it's going to be one of the movies scheduled for 2028 to fit within Phase 6's closing chapters.
Spider-Man 5
Spider-Man's 2nd Trilogy Could Continue As Early as 2028
- Directed by: TBC
- Release Date: TBC
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn't released yet, but if the train continues full speed ahead, fans could expect the next installment for Spider-Man within the 2028 window. After all, Spider-Man's first MCU trilogy: Homecoming, Far from Home, and No Way Home, all released within 2-year gaps from 2017 to 2021.
With it having been 5 years since Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Tom Holland back from his acting break, it's very likely that early development of Spider-Man 5 has already begun, with script concepts and even pre-productions starting so that Sony and Disney can take hold of a 2028 release window.
