Marvel Rivals continues to add new playable characters to the roster with each new Competitive Season and mid-season update. With each new hero that is added to the Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist role, new team compositions and synergies will establish themselves due to new and changing Team-Ups, Ultimate combinations, and ability kits that pair together very nicely.
In Marvel Rivals Season 3, Phoenix is the latest addition to the Duelist roster. With her arrival, she has quickly found a solid place in several different team comps that feature similar or synergizing playstyles and abilities. On top of this, she is also the anchor for a very strong Team-Up alongside Wolverine, which has made her a popular pick in Season 3. If you're wondering what some of the best heroes to pair with her are and how she best fits into different team compositions, the relevant information has been outlined below.

Best Heroes to Pair With Phoenix in Marvel Rivals
When considering the best team comps for Phoenix in Marvel Rivals, it is important to consider the best individual heroes to pair with her in each role and how they work with her to establish synergy or cover all important aspects of battle. From there, players can then look at additional synergies between these heroes and then build complete team compositions for them across the standard 2/2/2 1/3/2, 1/2/3, and other lesser-played formats.
Best Vanguards to Pair With Phoenix in Marvel Rivals
- Doctor Strange and Magneto are powerful shield tanks that can take and hold space, giving Phoenix room to shine, whilst also being able to provide valuable cover from potential counters and buy her time to reposition.
- Similarly, Emma Frost' s versatility as a brawl/poke tank enables her to deal with frustrating crowd control, leaving more room for Phoenix to play aggressively. She has a shield that can provide additional cover for a few seconds, and she thrives at the mid/close range where Phoenix tends to do the most damage.
- Groot is the best tank when it comes to both splitting up teams and forcing them to bunch together with his walls. This works brilliantly in Phoenix's favor, allowing her to mark enemies consistently, focus fire on separated targets from either close range or afar to confirm kills, and even get more value out of her Ultimate by combining it with his.
Best Duelists to Pair With Phoenix in Marvel Rivals
- Wolverine is an absolute no-brainer, thanks to his newest Team-Up with Phoenix that enables him to deal burning damage and gain lifesteal when using abilities. Furthermore, he works very well alongside Jean even without considering the Team-Up, as he can focus on chipping down and displacing tanks or putting aggressive close-range pressure on the enemy while Phoenix applies damage from the mid-long range to confirm kills.
- Hela is another very strong option due to her range. She's been at a great spot at release as a hitscan sniper, and while Phoenix does tend to deal the most valuable damage from mid-range, she can also play further back or between these two distances. Much like Hela, she is also a hitscan DPS. From an enemy perspective, having to watch out for a good Hela sniping you from across the map is threatening enough, let alone having two characters with the potential to do so.
- Alternatively, with flyers being in a pretty solid spot throughout Season 2.5/Season 3, Storm and Iron Man are also a good choice, especially in a case where the enemy struggles with flying heroes or has a team composition that is not in favor of going up against them. In the case of Iron Man, he can hit the enemy from afar, and Phoenix can move into favorable positioning to confirm those kills with finishing shots. Storm, on the other hand, can enhance Phoenix with speed and damage boost, and she also has a very powerful Team-Up with Jeff that can be implemented into the team in some circumstances to make big plays and gain momentum.
- Winter Soldier is another valuable choice, as his ability combos result in a high damage output. He thrives on solo target focus fire, resulting in a lot of burst damage and final hits. In contrast to this, Phoenix does exceptional work at dealing damage to grouped targets. This enables Phoenix to focus on the grouped team members with constant pressure and gain value from her AOE explosions, and Bucky can focus on vulnerable or out-of-position targets to get an upper hand in numbers and turn the team fight.
- Lastly, if you are in need of applying a lot of pressure to a team that is playing very stacked together, otherwise known as 'a death ball' comp, then Moon Knight may be a valuable pick. This would result in 2 AOE attack DPS to really make the death ball difficult to push with. Phoenix's explosions will trigger to apply damage to nearby enemies, whilst Moon Knight's primary fire can bounce not just off his ankhs, but also off enemies, making the idea of them playing bunched up very dangerous.
Best Strategists to Pair With Phoenix in Marvel Rivals
- Cloak & Dagger is a brilliant all-rounder strategist that fits into almost any team composition, so pairing them with Phoenix can bring value. Dagger's primary fire deals an AOE heal to allies and an AOE damage to enemies, and it can be bounced off surfaces. This makes it easy to heal Phoenix as she flies/dashes from long-mid-close range, whilst the AOE damage on a hit makes it useful to finish off targets that Phoenix has marked and hit with her own AOE sparks, if needed.
- Rocket Raccoon works well as a pick with Phoenix, too. While his heals travel quite slowly, they deal a decent amount of healing when they make contact, and Phoenix's health regeneration helps make up for the slower speed. Furthermore, Rocket's Amplifier is a very good Ultimate following the prior buffs, and the damage boost it provides hugely improves the potential of Phoenix's own Ultimate for kills.
- Similarly to Rocket, if you have a strong burst/primary healer, then Mantis can be a good second pick thanks to her damage boosting potential. She can improve not only Phoenix's ultimate, but also her general ability kit. Again, Mantis's slower healing speed isn't a massive deal for Phoenix due to her HP regeneration, enabling more space for damage boosting. With a consistent damage boost on a Phoenix with great aim, the character can carry a match and be the biggest threat in the lobby.
- Lastly, Invisible Woman has been in a pretty solid spot, especially following the buffs/changes to how her healing works. She also works well with Phoenix due to her ability to bounce heals and damage between her allies and the enemy simultaneously. This pairs nicely with Phoenix's consistent damage and AOE potential, and the rest of her kit is generally very strong yet versatile, making her a viable option in most comps.
