Marvel Rivals has revealed that it will launch new characters more quickly starting in Season 3. Marvel Rivals was launched in December 2024 and already has an impressive roster of 37 playable characters. Some names were added during the testing phase, and others debuted during its first season.

The first half of Marvel Rivals Season 1 saw the addition of the Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic. The game gained a Strategist who turns invisible while healing and shielding the team and a Duelist who uses his stretchy powers to become more resilient. The second half of Season 1 brought in The Thing and the Human Torch as new playable characters. With this, the game added a Duelist with powerful attacks and a Vanguard who creates seismic zones to stun enemies. Now, one of the devs has good news for players hoping for other characters to join the shooter.

Marvel Rivals has revealed that it will release one character monthly from Season 3 onwards. Creative Director Guangguang broke the news at the 2:48 mark of the new development diary published on YouTube, revealing that the change came about after extensive internal discussions. With this, the seasons will change to a two-month format, allowing Marvel Rivals to add a new character every month. With the reveal of the second season, previous Marvel Rivals leaks have been confirmed, and Emma Frost is finally on her way to the game. Ultron, another character expected by players, only appeared in the official trailer and was not announced.

Marvel Rivals Promises Exciting Changes

The shortening of the Marvel Rivals seasons wasn't the only subject of the video. Because of this change, the developer diary confirmed that season-related systems will be adjusted accordingly, with more details to be shared before the start of Season 3. Another important adjustment revealed by the Creative Director is the introduction of weekly missions to optimize players' Chrono Token earnings. According to him, the change comes because the current quest system isn't clear enough on how players can earn the game's currency and claim rewards from the Marvel Rivals battle pass.

Until Season 3 arrives, players have a lot to look forward to in Marvel Rivals Season 2. Confirming previous rumors, the season will start on April 11 and be themed around the Hellfire Gala, the iconic annual event from the X-Men comics. The trailer teased future new skins that players will see in the game, giving stylish outfits to characters such as Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Cloak and Dagger, and Captain America.
