Summary

  • Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 introduced new Strategist hero Ultron, and the Hellfire Gala: Arakko map.
  • Players are complaining about the hitboxes after the patch, finding them far too accurate.

The hero shooter Marvel Rivals recently delivered Season 2.5, and some players have begun voicing their complaints about a frustrating change that came about in the patch. Marvel Rivals was first released back in December 2024, debuting as a free-to-play 6v6 title featuring the current roster of over 30 Marvel characters. Players can battle in over 10 unique maps with destructible environments through a variety of modes, including Domination, Convergence, and Doom Match.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 boasted a monstrous scale, welcoming the new Strategist hero, Ultron, alongside the new Hellfire Gala: Arakko map, and the limited-time Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol. The patch also offered a host of free skins for Marvel Rivals fans, including Mister Fantastic’s Future Foundation skin, Hawkeye’s Binary Arrow skin, and Emma Frost’s Golden Diamond skin.

Marvel Rivals gives gamers their first look at gameplay of the upcoming Future Foundation skins for the popular heroes Invisible Woman and The Thing.

Posted on Reddit by UrsaRizz, a short clip was shared on the Marvel Rivals subreddit, highlighting Season 2.5’s change to hitboxes. This comes on the heels of Marvel Rivals players' backlash towards Season 2.5’s Vanguards, but the point of contention lies in the hitboxes now being far too accurate. The clip shows the player attacking Spider-Man as K-pop star Luna Snow, and the web-slinger manages to dodge the promising strike. A closer look revealed just how close the attack came to the hero’s head, confirming NetEase had significantly altered the hitboxes’ accuracy, which now requires more skill from players.

Marvel Rivals Players Complain About Season 2.5's Hitbox Accuracy

The shooter community isn’t shy about asking what they want from the developer, such as Marvel Rivals players requesting disco-inspired skins for several characters, and a boat-load of hitbox complaints are steadily surfacing. One Redditor compared the hitbox change to a moment they experienced playing Halo 3, when the enemy threw a grenade precisely when the player attacked, causing their head to shift slightly out of the sniper’s mark. Another player noted that these hitbox encounters are entertaining during single-player games, but rather frustrating during competitive PvP games online.

On a more positive note, Marvel Rivals’ rare skins are returning for a limited time, including Venom’s Snow Symbiote bundle and Hawkeye's Galactic Fangs bundle, in addition to Future Foundation skins for The Thing and Invisible Woman to join Mister Fantastic’s, and the former additions haven’t been available since the shooter’s Season 0. Holiday skins will also be making a comeback, such as Magik's Frozen Demon bundle, which is a nice surprise for the player base to retrieve during the height of summer.
